This Valentine’s Day, our NICU was filled with extra sweetness as our smallest patients dressed up in festive Valentine’s outfits. These little hearts may be small, but they are surrounded by an incredible amount of love, strength and dedicated care every single day.

Thank you to our amazing caregivers and the Family Support Network of WNC for helping to create these safe and memorable photoshoots for our NICU babies. Thank you to Preemies of the Carolinas for treating these little ones to outfits, hats, and blankets to make this an extra special Valentine's Day.

We are so grateful to our NICU families for trusting us with their precious babies, and to our compassionate caregivers who pour their hearts into this work. From all of us at Mission Hospital, we’re sending love to our tiniest Valentines and the families cheering them on. 💗👶

Burn injuries can happen quickly – at home, outdoors or during everyday routines. This National Burn Awareness Week, we’re joining the American Burn Association in spotlighting this year’s theme: “Burn Prevention Where You Live, Work and Play – Preventing Burns in the Workplace.” While many burns occur in places like kitchens, workshops or industrial settings, prevention starts with awareness wherever you are.

Mild, first‑degree burns – often marked by redness, pain or slight swelling – can typically be cared for at home using simple first-aid steps.
✅ Gently clean the area with cool water and soap
✅ Apply a thin layer of bacitracin ointment and cover with a non-stick gauze
✅Over-the-counter medications can help with discomfort

For more serious burns, especially those involving deeper tissue or larger areas, prompt medical attention is critical. Our Mission Health emergency rooms are prepared to provide timely care when these burns occur. For complex cases, specialized treatment is available through our Mission Burn and Wound Center. This team is specially trained to provide advanced treatment options and follow-up rehabilitation for burn injuries.
