Last Friday, 150+ high school students came together from across Western North Carolina for a day designed to connect education and healthcare. The Southwestern Regional Health Pathways Conference offered hands-on, skills-based rotations, career exploration, and open conversations with educators and healthcare professionals!

These experiences build more than interest. They build confidence. When they are intentional, and stack over time, they create pathways that start in high school and continue forward.

This work depends on strong partnerships. We are grateful to Southwestern Community College, Buncombe, Cherokee, Jackson, Haywood, Macon, Transylvania County Schools, Western Carolina University, Appalachian State University; our healthcare partners including Angel Medical Center, Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority, HCA Healthcare Mission Health, MAHEC and regional providers.

Next school year, we will be hosting three regional health pathways conferences across Western North Carolina, creating more opportunities for students to learn in their own communities. Stay tuned for more details!
