May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the impact that mental health issues have on our lives. Unfortunately, there is still a stigma surrounding mental health that prevents many people from seeking the help they need. Let's use this month to break down those barriers and have open conversations. By raising awareness and reducing the stigma, we can create a more supportive and inclusive environment for everyone. Remember, it's okay to not be okay, and seeking help is a sign of strength.

We’re excited to announce that October Road is uniting with our parent organization, Pyramid Healthcare, to better serve our North Carolina communities.

Effective April 28, 2025, this transition unifies our organization’s identity while reinforcing our commitment to expanding access to substance use and mental health treatment across the state.

Throughout this transition and beyond, we will continue to provide the high-quality, life-saving treatment services that you’ve come to expect from October Road. Our services, staff and structure are not changing – only our name will be different.

Pyramid Healthcare continues to celebrate National Internship Awareness Month!

Clinical Internships at our facilities give students the opportunity to explore different client populations and the various levels of care of counseling and social work available before committing to a long-term career path. This can help them discover their interests and strengths, as well as what type of work environment they thrive in.

We are pleased to shine a spotlight on a few of our current interns at Pyramid Healthcare through April!

Nicole Gurgiolo joined the October Road Asheville team in January 2025 for her Western Carolina University BSW field placement experience. Nicole has worked closely with her Clinical Director, Stephanie DeBruhl, MSW, LCSW, LISW, an alum of Western Carolina University MSW program.

Nicole has really stepped up and supported the October Road team during her internship. Her dedication and appreciation are appreciated immensely! We are pleased to share that Nicole will be continuing her dedication to October Road clients by returning in Fall 2025 for her MSW internship, and grateful for the continued collaboration with Western Carolina University's social work programs!
