Attention: Physicians, Nurses, Pre-Hospital Emergency Personnel, Respiratory Therapists, Dentists, and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency:

MAHEC offers AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Initial and Recertification Provider courses in person at our Simulation Center. The next ACLS Recertification Provider course is coming up!

These courses are designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, in or out of the hospital setting. The goal of the ACLS Provider course is to improve the quality of care provided to the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergency.

Students will practice the application of these and other skills in simulated cases and will practice both team leader and team member roles. Sign up here or find additional dates: mahec.net/home/event/74848

As the new school year begins and we face the one-year anniversary of Helene, what are some signs that a child might be struggling? How can parents and teachers strengthen the resilience of our children and contribute to their success? What are the lessons learned from the storm?

MAHEC provides school-based behavioral therapy in 83 schools across the region. WLOS ABC 13 invited one of our therapists to participate in a panel discussion during a special segment of the news at 5:30pm this evening, airing again on Thursday morning at 5:30am. Hope you'll tune in on your TV or device! https://wlos.com/

Thank you, WLOS, for including MAHEC in this important discussion.

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy has officially moved onto our MAHEC campus, taking up residence in the UNC Health Sciences building after many years based at UNC Asheville. But this transition is more than just a change of address—it’s a transformation of the educational model itself.

Starting this year, PharmD students in Asheville will complete all four years of their training here—no longer beginning in Chapel Hill and transferring after year one. This is a huge leap forward, and one we believe will bring lasting benefits not only to our students, but to our entire community.

Having the pharmacy program fully rooted on our campus enhances opportunities for true interprofessional education. It means more collaboration across disciplines, more learning together, and more shared purpose in service of patients and communities.

This shift also brings even more life, energy, and innovation into our UNC Health Sciences building—fulfilling its promise as a hub for rural and regional health workforce development.

A hearty welcome to UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy! We're thrilled that you're here!
