We believe that fitness should be accessible to ALL bodies and that exercise should be fun, not punishment.

We are actively: anti-racist, trans-positive, queer-positive, fat-positive, and pro love.

Our studio is rapidly growing! We’ve got a lot of demand right now and we are in need of additional personal and small group trainers!

We’re specifically looking for folks who align with our mission, value working in a body inclusive fitness space, and are excited about the opportunity to grow with us.

Other Requirements:

Current national personal training certification

Up-to-date CPR

Trainer liability insurance (or are willing to obtain)

Weekday evening availability (+ potentially Saturdays)

Experience working with a variety of fitness levels, abilities, and interests is preferred!

2021 is ending in 4 nights. This is the time of year that advertisers like to tell you that you need to spend your money on fitness equipment or a diet plan or supplements or on joining a gym. That you need to resolve to change the size and shape of your body.

Truth is, you don't. These companies are not trying to help you feel better in your body. They just want your money and use shaming as the tactic to get you to spend.

You can do things differently this year! You can resolve to spend more time outside or play more basketball with your kid. You can resolve to handwrite letters to old friends or to keep a plant alive for the entire year.

Reply below with your resolutions for 2022 that have nothing to do with your body!

Hi! There are a lot of new folks here so, I thought I would introduce myself!

I'm Betsy, the owner and head coach at PlayFit AVL. I opened this movement studio to help you find sustainable and accessible movement practices that help you better in your body. We are actively anti-racist and anti-diet and are fat/trans/queer positive.

We work together on undoing the damage of diet culture and helping you heal your relationship with your body.

I am so excited to announce that there is a new trainer joining the PlayFit family!

Please welcome Sadie Simpson ()! Sadie is taking on personal training clients for Monday/Wednesday morning appointments. DM to inquire more!

About Sadie:
Sadie (she/her) is a Group Exercise Instructor, Personal Trainer, & Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor in the Asheville area. She approaches movement from an anti-diet and Health at Every Size lens to help folks disengage from diet culture, reconnect to their bodies, and cultivate a better relationship with exercise.

She believes that establishing a movement practice should be:
-Practical, realistic, and enjoyable (…or at the very least, tolerable!😊)
-Based around personal preference and autonomy
-Free of shame, manipulation, and guilt

Why, in the world, do we need another fitness option???

I have been an athlete since I was four when I started playing soccer, my first true love. I was never the fastest kid on the team, but I always played with heart. When puberty hit, I started to gain weight despite my active lifestyle. I still loved soccer with much of my identity revolving around being a part of my team. When I was 14, I was cut from the team I had played on for four years because my coach said I was "too big".

This incident became a defining moment in my life and was the beginning of a complicated relationship between me and my body and exercise. It took me a long time to realize that was the destination. It wasn't a pant size that I desired. I desired to feel good! After that realization, I started exercising because I began to love my body and what it can do! I realized that I didn't have to workout in any way that didn't make me happy. I started to infuse my workouts with play and life simply became more fun.

Now I bring this to you. Come spend some time with me and remember the joy of play. Remember or learn how to love your body in whatever shape or size or ability you come with. You are worth it!
