After almost 3 months of uncertainty and deep grief over the loss of our Wall Street studio and what we had worked tirelessly to build...

There is a glimmer of hope on the horizon!

It’s too soon yet to say for sure, but please send us all your positive prayers and good intentions.

From an industry insider perspective, the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork has been saying for months “we can’t actually advise you to practice or not, wait for more guidance from the state government.”

The problem is, the state government doesn’t have any specific awareness of what it’s like to be in our industry.

This lack of leadership has led many therapists to be frustrated and has put all of us into a very difficult position of trying to plan for our income and our families, when the governing entity of our profession in our state has little to say other than “we don’t want to be liable for your decision to practice.”

Especially when, two days before “Phase 2” was the first communication we had from the state board about reopening, and clearly did not acknowledge the following fact:

* It’s not possible to adhere to the social distancing requirements of Phase 2 when you are in a closed room with another person for 60min+ *

Massage therapists across the country have been left to fend for themselves, many stil not receiving the PUA unemployment benefits for self employed and Indepent Contractors and having to fight to get a human being on the phone to research their unemployment claim.

Luckily, we have some guidance from our national organizations around cleaning and sanitation, but then again there are huge unanswered questions about the liability for us as therapists in regards to communicable diseases, leaving us in just as much uncertainty as before when making the decision to return to work.

No clear guidelines leave many feeling unsure of how to safely see clients again.
