We have another surprise... and this is a big one. 🤍

We are officially accepting WellCare/Carolina Complete Health (transitioning to Carolina Complete Health on April 1) for birth doula services!

This has been a long time coming. Access to doula care is one of the biggest gaps we see every single day with huge impacts to perinatal education, support, informed consent and breastfeeding success—especially for families navigating Medicaid.

And we know what happens when that gap is filled:

• Fewer preterm births

What is the risk of uterine rupture during a labor after two cesareans?

So often, we hear the risk is 0.9 - 1.8%. But that doesn’t tell the whole picture.

The truth is, those numbers are based on studies in which 49 - 65% of labors were induced or augmented.

As we know, induction and augmentation has been associated with increased uterine rupture rates.

So it’s quite likely that the risk of uterine rupture during a non-induced or augmented labor after two cesareans may be significantly lower.

This is why it’s so important to understand what the research says.

Sometimes vital pieces of information are lost as statistics are simplified and shared.

When the women call, I must go… reminiscing on this sweet Christmas Eve babe. Born into the world fast and furious into his loving parents hands. I joined them after to support mama in birthing her placenta which took its own sweet time after the quick birth. It’s always my honor to tend to the families in whatever way they need! 🙏

I haven’t been very active on social media lately, but my sweetest Elowyn and I have been very busy tending to our winter mamas and babies. My baby girl has had the calmest energy as she has entered the birth & postpartum space for 5 mamas in the last few months, and I truly couldn’t ask for anything more, she was meant to walk this road with me. And I couldn’t do it without my own support at home picking up my slack when I have to run! It’s truly an honor to be welcomed into the homes of families who accept my love and care and are so gracious to allow my precious bundle to join. This isn’t just birth work, it’s soul level connections and forever friendships. 🙏❤️‍🔥💫

The Birth Altar… a sacred shrine created and dedicated to powerful manifestations, where we call in our ancestors, release thoughts and fears and let the energies flow through us.

At the altar we place our most symbolic items, gifts, or whatever calls to you to help create a space of peace, strength and powerful loving energy for labor. It is a deeply personal and intimate spiritual space meant to bring comfort to the birthing mother.

There are no strict rules for how to create an altar, for me I begin by adding items personal to that I might have had prior along with items I collect throughout my pregnancy that speak to me. I typically start placing my altar a few months in advance to really set the mood and energy for the space I will be birthing in, calling in love and positivity. As we get closer to labor time I call in my closest friends and birthing sisters for a mother blessing, to sit in circle to shower me in love and support and bring their own special / spiritual items to place on the altar.

Altars are one of my personal favorite labor preparations, I give the altar alot of my focus leading up to my births as I trust and believe that it releases the energy I give to it for all those months.
