One year ago everything changed in WNC. Hurricane Helene brought unprecedented damage and upended so many lives. But in the course of a year, we have witnessed amazing acts of selflessness and seen overwhelming generosity, as the region has worked to recover. Looking back, we can't help but pause and feel grateful to the many amazing heroes who played a role in helping our little corner of the world. May we all continue to take care of one another. We promise to wake up each morning and strive to do the same...

As Neonatal Nurses Week wraps up, we would like to give a shout out to our very own NICU flight nurses & respiratory therapists who stand ready at any moment—whether they are pulled to the aircraft or the truck—to bring critical care to our most fragile patients in WNC. 👶🚁🚑

Their skill, heart, and calm in the face of urgency make a life-changing difference for the tiniest fighters and their families. Thanks for all you do; in the hospital, ambulance, and in the sky. 💙

Did you know that MAMA now carries lifesaving whole blood? While we have carried blood products for decades, thanks to Mission Hospital Trauma Services and the amazing team at Mission's blood bank, both of our helicopters are stocked with 2 units of whole blood on every flight.

Big thanks to Dana Fire Department for hosting a Scene Team Landing Zone class with us this morning! 🚁🚒

It was a great refresher on safe LZ setup, communications, and scene coordination. Training like this ensures when minutes matter, everyone on the ground and in the air is on the same page. This type of partnership is what makes safe, efficient air medical operations possible. We’re grateful to Dana Fire for the teamwork and for investing in continued training.

Their contributions to emergency medicine in WNC and throughout the state are truly amazing. We can't say enough about the impact they have had on the MAMA program, Mission Hospital, and on the thousands of patients they have cared for over the years. Thank you Carrie and Charlie!!!

🚁🚁 Both birds on the ground in Jackson County this afternoon awaiting two patients from an MVC.

📣 Shoutout to Harris-Jackson EMS & Rescue Squad, Glenville-Cashiers EMS, Cullowhee FD, Jackson Co EOC, Mission MedCom, and Mission Hospital who pulled together like clockwork to make it happen. It takes a whole system working in sync to move fast, provide excellent care, and get patients where they need to be! ✨

It's been another great week of training alongside some of our amazing EMS partners!!! Thank you to McDowell County EMS and Glenville-Cashiers Rescue Squad for having us out. WNC is truly blessed to have both of these agencies and we couldn't ask for better partners!
