With the average price of oat milk 🥛 costing around $5 for a half gallon, I decided to try making my own using gluten-free oats.
The first time I tried it, it wasn’t that great.
But I found a new recipe that recommended soaking the oats first, and it made it so much better! It doesn’t froth up as well for my coffee ☕️, but I can live with that…I think. 😂
I was able to use the leftover pulp to make overnight oats, too.
OAT MILK RECIPE
1. Soak one cup of rolled oats in enough water to cover them for 15 minutes.
2. Drain them and then place the soaked oats in a blender with up to four cups of water. Use more or less water depending on the consistency you desire. Blend them together at high speed for 30 to 60 seconds.
3. Pour your oat milk through a fine-mesh strainer and chill before serving.
It turns out you can use the leftover pulp for so many things! See comments below 👇🏻.
