Fire cupping is one of the oldest therapeutic tools in Chinese medicine — and one of the most visually striking. 🔥
A flame is briefly introduced into a glass cup to create a vacuum, then the cup is placed on the skin. That gentle suction lifts the superficial tissue, drawing stagnant blood and fluids to the surface, opening the channels, and inviting fresh circulation into areas that have been holding tension, restriction, or pain.
In TCM, we say that where there is flow, there is no pain — and cupping is a powerful way to restore that flow.
Those characteristic marks? They're not bruises. They're a diagnostic map — showing us exactly where the body has been holding stagnation, and confirming that the treatment reached it. 👌
Cupping is particularly effective for:
∙Chronic and acute back, neck, and shoulder pain
∙Respiratory conditions, including asthma and lingering cough
∙Tight, overworked, or injured muscles
∙Stress, anxiety, and nervous system dysregulation
∙Immune support and post-illness recovery
∙Headaches and migraines
It pairs beautifully with acupuncture and is deeply relaxing for most clients — many fall asleep on the table.
