The word routine can have a negative ring to it.

Often we associate routines with hard work, restrictions, loss of freedom or being controlled by someone or something.

The truth is, healthy routines can bring more freedom, love, self acceptance and health than you ever could imagine.

Without supportive practices life and health can be chaos, physical, emotional and mental suffering.

Ayurveda, the science of Life and Millenia old ancient medicine form India, offers countless, simple and easy to use applications to help indigestion (which millions of Americans suffer from every day), poor sleep, mood swings and aches and pains naturally.

Incorporated in a healthy, ayurvedic lifestyle are diet, gentle exercise such as yoga and/or walking, deep breathing, proper sleep, time to relax and reflect, meditation and simple herbs that you probably have in your kitchen already.

Come and immerge yourself into a new lifestyle that elevates your health, work, relationships and overall wellbeing!

I am excited to invite you to my next Ayurvedic workshop on August 11, 2024 at Asheville Community Yoga to share lifechanging and easy to implement routines for a better, healthier and happier life! See you there! For more info please leave a comment below or DM me. With gratitude 🥰

For many years I teach Yoga classes with my whole heart. It always seemed to me that the most pressing need has been and still is, to reduce stress in peoples lives.

Yoga lends itself to do just that.

In fact in the Classical Yogic Text,

"The Yoga Sutras", Patanjali, the author states,

Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuation of the mind.

In other words, Yoga is the tool to ease the mind, still the mind so its fluctuations, its ups and downs are being calmed.

A still mind is described as the surface of a clear, motionless mountain lake. In this state we feel true piece within ourselves and with the world around us. Rather than our usual stressed out mind lakes where waves of all sizes crush against the shore line and interfere with clear thinking and perception.

In Ayurveda the fluctuations of the mind are said to be stirred up by Vata Dosha.

Vata is comprised of the air and space/either elements. Both are light and mobile in quality and are easily effected by outer influences. We are constantly moved, tugged, pulled, drawn, interfered and disturbed by the world around us.

This throws Vata Dosha into imbalance and our minds and bodies are impacted. The result is stress, anxiety, restlessness, fear and worry. If this emotional state is not addressed in the long run, physical symptoms most likely arise down the road.

Often the first bodily system that will suffer is the digestive system. Digestive issues like constipation, indigestion, belching, diarrhea and flatulence are escalading in modern societies. Many times accompanied with aches and pains.

Having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep is a widespread symptom of disturbed Vata Dosha as well. Rest is a key factor for good health.

In fact all the Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) are naturally pacified during a good night sleep. If this doesn't happen stress levels rise even higher.

The good news is disturbances can be pacified and balanced. Yoga asanas, breathwork, meditation, right diet, right life style, right sleep and right relationships bring the mind/body system into balance.

Good appetite, regular digestion, restful sleep, strong immunity and harmonies relationships result from small adjustments in our lifestyle.

Yoga and Ayurveda are working hand in hand and are considered sister sciences, carrying forward ancient Indian wisdom to help a stressed and confused world to heal.

Wherever you are in your health journey Ayurveda and Yoga offer natural ways to reset your body and mind for a healthier and happier life!
