My sweet girls turned 4! 💕 How can this be?! Time has both stood still and moved way too fast.

What a gift it is to raise twins! both the hardest and most beautiful journey.

Mila and Isla continue to amaze me with their bravery, kindness, and strength. Every day, they remind me to be patient, accepting, and loving.

Through the challenges of raising three little ones during covid and a hurricane, I am beyond grateful for the love, support, and community that has and continues to carry us through.

It truly does get better every day. 🥰🥹

Lawrence is known for his vibrant figurative paintings focused on Black Americans’ experiences, daily life in Harlem, and events from U.S. history. He once said that his works “express my life and experience. I paint the things I know about and the things I have experienced.”

ARTnews looked back on the artist’s pioneering career and some of his most acclaimed artworks.
