A balloon expulsion test is a simple and helpful pelvic floor muscle assessment. A small catheter with a deflated balloon goes into the re**um, itâs filled with saline, and then youâre asked to p**p it out.
This helps clinicians understand how well you can relax your pelvic floor muscles and how long it takes to âp**pâ the balloon out. Itâs one way we assess pelvic floor coordination, chronic constipation, and outlet dysfunction.

We talk a lot about finishing too fast, but not enough about when or**sm feels like itâs taking foreverâŚor not happening at all. Delayed ej*******on isnât always a âplumbingâ issue. You might look fully aroused on the outside, but inside your erotic engine isnât firing.
Think of arousal on a scale from 0 to 10. Your body might be presenting at a 9, while your internal arousal feels like a 3. That mismatch can make or**sm feel miles away, even when everything âlooksâ right.
If this sounds familiar, youâre not broken. Youâre human, and thereâs a lot we can unpack here.

Ever wonder if hovering or squatting over a public toilet actually hurts your pelvic floor or increases your risk of bladder infections? The quick answer is most likely not. Some research shows no meaningful change in bladder emptying, flow rate, or leftover urine whether you sit, stand, or squat in individuals without pelvic floor issues.
So hover if you want to, sit if you can, and if you sprinkle when you ti**le... wipe the seat for the next human and carry on.

Itâs not just what you drink, but how you drink it.â¨
Chugging large amounts of water or other fluids too quickly can overwhelm the bladder and make urgency worse. Add pelvic floor muscle tension, and youâve got a bladder that fills faster and feels fuller sooner.â¨
Small sips throughout the day and mindful pelvic relaxation can make a big difference for your bladder health.â¨

A**l re**al manometry is often paired with the balloon test to measure pressure, strength, and coordination of the a**l sphincters.
Specialized MRI imaging can also show how the pelvic floor, re**um, and a**l ca**l move or donât move during an attempt to p**p.
These tools help pelvic floor therapists better understand whatâs happening inside your body so treatment can be specific, effective, and evidence based.

Leaking after prostate surgery? Youâre not alone. Up to 90% of men experience urinary leakage right after catheter removal, but recovery is possible. In my latest video, I walk you through step-by-step pelvic floor exercises to help you regain bladder control and confidence. Start slow, stay consistent, and remember that progress takes time. đŞ
Sexual recovery after a prostatectomy is rarely talked about, yet it impacts every part of a manâs life â physically, emotionally, and relationally.
I recently taught a webinar for that dives into what happens to sexual function after surgery and how clinicians can better support men in this phase of healing.
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men between 20 and 34 years old. Itâs often found by accident during a self-check or medical exam.â¨
Look for a hard, painless lump or bump, about the size of a small pea. You might also notice a dull ache, heaviness, or swelling in the sc***um. These signs donât always mean cancer, but theyâre worth checking out.â¨
If you have a family history, an undescended testicle, or conditions like Klinefelter syndrome, pay extra attention and get to know your body. Early detection saves lives.â¨â¨đĄ Want to see a real-live demo on how to perform a testicular exam? These tools arenât just for strengthening. Theyâre for learning how to relax, release, and reconnect with your pelvic floor.â¨

Yes, Iâm a professional. But Iâm also a fun-loving human who does fun-loving human things. So to tell you about me, letâs start with the usual âcockâ-tail talk⌠I'm a physiotherapist for your privates.
I'm not an M.D. or gynecologist. I train folks on how to be their own expert in treating whatever's going on âdown there.â Iâm a licensed doctor of physical therapy, a board-certified pelvic rehabilitation practitioner, and a certified health coach. Simply put, Iâm the physio for everything âdown there.â
I spend 1:1 hands-on time with you, guiding you on how to be the expert in treating your pelvic pain. Want to get your life back on track? Letâs talk. Schedule a free 15-minute consult today.
If youâve got something more than tissue-based pain like smelly ej*****te, blood in your urine, weird lumps and bumps that just popped outta nowhere, fever or chills, go see an M.D. Theyâre the guys who do all the blood tests and scans to make sure nothing more serious is going on.
If you're nervous about who to see or don't know where to even start, schedule a free 15-minute consult with me to see if you need me, an M.D., or both. Otherwise, if you want to know all the academic technical stuff, click here. You can also check out my F.A.Q. here!
