Acupuncture and mindfulness go hand in hand because they both help us support our bodies through presence, nervous system regulation, and stress reduction.🤲

Can you take a moment to be present and say this affirmation to yourself? Beginning the week with a moment of mindfulness and nervous system regulation supports us throughout the week.✨

If you’d like to know more about mindfulness, read our blog post “How to Cultivate Mindfulness Daily” on our website, linked in our bio!✨

Does this sound like you?👇

👉 You often feel cold, have a sluggish metabolism, experience low back and knee pain and overall fatigue? Do you also experience painful cramps and chronic bowel issues?

If so, yang deficiency and/or qi deficiency may be part of your pattern. Balancing yang energy and free flowing qi  is important for metabolism, circulation, strengthened immunity, optimum organ function as well as creativity and motivation.⚖️

We are now in the year of the Fire Horse, which has yang energy. Use these tips to bring balance to the yang energy of the year🔥

If you have trouble balancing yin and yang energy, let us help! Acupuncture is a great way to work with both energies and bring balance to your body and to your life.

The combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, and Chinese herbal medicine guide our bodies towards balance and optimal health🤲⚖️

These three modalities work in harmony to support you through your reproductive years and beyond. Some of my favorite ways to work with patients is through the extraordinary vessels, provide moxa to warm the 3 yin channels of the lower body (spleen, kidney, and liver), and work with herbal blends that combine kidney and spleen tonics, adaptogens, and nervines.

Have you thought about this?👇
How are you closing out the year of the Wood Snake?

The Snake represents transformation, adaptability, sensitivity and wisdom 🐍 Before we enter a new lunar year, take time to reflect on the past year with these questions:

✨ What have you learned this past year?
✨ What pieces of wisdom can you pull from your experiences?
✨ How did you demonstrate adaptability over the past year?
✨ How did you see your life transform?

What other areas of your life do you need to clear out and release with love so you can start the new year fresh?

Sending you all the best wishes as you close out this year and step into the next!

Have you ever wondered this?👇

1. Does acupuncture hurt? You may feel a sharp or dull and achy sensation when the needles are inserted, a discomfort that lasts only 1-2 seconds.

2. Is acupuncture during pregnancy safe? Yes, absolutely! It is what we specialize in at Hearth Acupuncture. It helps you connect with your baby, your body, and eases discomfort.

3. Will I need to take herbs or supplements? This varies from patient to patient, but typically I give herbal recommendations and you have the power to choose if it resonates with you or not! In my experience, those who take herbs see the most benefit from their acupuncture treatments.

4. How soon after delivery should I come in for postpartum care? Each patient is different, but many choose to come within 4-6 weeks postpartum. Most importantly, the best time to return is when you feel called to!

Have other questions about acupuncture? We’d love to connect with you and share more! Reach out to us here or at hello@hearthacupuncture.com

In my new blog, Acupressure and Fertility, I share with you what acupressure is, why it is helpful for fertility, and how you can use it at home!

👉 Here are a few bits of information from the blog:

👉Acupressure uses the firm pressure of your own fingers to stimulate specific points on the body to reduce stress, calm the mind, improve blood flow, reduce pain and boost mood by the release of dopamine- all things that help with fertility.

👉Each phase of your menstrual cycle has certain acupressure points that offer support and promote fertility associated with the phase.

To learn about which acupressure points you should focus on during each phase of your cycle, read the new blog on our website, linked in bio.

Hearth Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine

Hearth Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine provides a modern approach to Traditional Chinese medicine, utilizing acupuncture, herbal and dietary therapy, TCM modalities, and integrative medicine to create balance within and support the body in its natural ability to heal. We are dedicated to healing on every level with an emphasis on women’s health. The name hearth encompasses what we aim to provide to our patients. A warm, inviting, supportive, and nurturing space that symbolizes home and comfort. If you’re looking for a space to build lasting and sustainable health we invite you to come in.

Kerry is a licensed acupuncturist and board-certified Chinese herbalist specializing in the treatment of women’s health with a focus in fertility, prenatal and postpartum care. Beyond the scope of women’s health, Hearth treats both women and men and provides general care for anyone looking to live a life of sustained health and well being. Kerry’s priority is to offer a supportive and healing space for patients who seek optimal health, wholeness, and balance in their lives. She aims to provide the highest level of care and compassion to her patients, providing them with all the tools they need to reach their goals of health and wellbeing by looking at the body and person as a whole, not merely a series of symptoms. In treatment she will utilize a variety of modalities through the use of acupuncture, Chinese and western herbs, lifestyle modifications, integrative care, moxibustion, cupping, nutrition therapy, and bodywork. Before moving to Asheville, North Carolina, she and her husband lived in Portland, Oregon where she began her career in Chinese medicine. The call to live closer to family, set down roots, and the pull of new opportunities brought them to Asheville. Kerry received her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and holds a Fine Arts degree in Ballet from the University of Utah. Currently, she is pursuing an additional certification in Herbal Medicine for Women in a course taught by Dr. Aviva Romm. In her time away from the office and love of medicine, she enjoys spending time with family, experimenting in the kitchen, and exploring beautiful Asheville, North Carolina.
