For OHP clients , doula support is offered as part of clients care package with Artemis Midwifery. One of our recent clients wrote a testimonial about the doula care she received that I wanted to share here, since not everyone is familiar with the role of a doula and what the benefits might be :
“ When I first learned about postpartum doula care, I was honestly very nervous and unsure. The idea of having someone—essentially a stranger—come into my home to help with my everyday tasks felt uncomfortable and unfamiliar. I didn’t know what to expect or if it was really something I needed.
After my first visit, I quickly realized how valuable it is to have extra support during such an important and tender time. My doula helped me truly rest, recover, and stay in bed longer with my baby, which is something every new mom deserves but rarely gets to do.
A postpartum doula is there to support you in so many ways—both seen and unseen. From helping with housework to running errands or engaging with older siblings, their presence brings balance and peace to the home. Personally, I utilized my doula in many ways: she took my older boys for walks, dropped off donations, and most helpful of all, kept up with everyday chores. She washed dishes, did laundry, swept the floors, cooked lunch for the kids and me, and helped maintain a sense of calm and order in our busy household.
Looking back now, after six in-home visits, I can confidently say I would do it again in a heartbeat. What started as hesitation quickly turned into deep appreciation. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, every mother deserves the support a doula can offer.
Having a doula truly feels like expanding your village—and as they say, it takes a village to raise a child. With the help of insurance making this care more accessible, there’s really no reason not to give it a try. Having that extra pair of hands, heart, and understanding made all the difference in my postpartum journey.”

Just came back from a 2 week trip to Europe. The most meaningful part of the trip was that I got to attend the birth of my niece, Tara. I attended my sisters birth of her first baby as well and it was so special that it worked out again this time, even though I was only there for 10 days. Baby was born on the 27th of October and on the 29th we were headed to the Amsterdam airport at 5 am. Proud of my sister and how beautiful and very special to get to be a part of welcoming in my little ( or not so little ? 9 lb 2 oz ) niece to this world. 🥰

This photo shows 3 generations , my sister , her baby, and our mom & I . Love these women so very much. ❤️
