Exciting news: we have a new clinic!

Much like the families we serve, our practices have been changing and growing. Over the last few months we have been searching and searching for the perfect space to accommodate all our practices. We scoured the internet, kept an eye out for ‘for rent’ signs, did tons of drive-bys of available places and went to look at spaces to see if they might work. Nothing was quite right, some did not work out. Until… we found this place.

Ironically, we are literally right across the street from our old place on 4th. Now we have a full facility to welcome you and your growing family for full spectrum midwifery care, doula services, lactation support, birth classes and more. We are so excited about the possibilities this space gives us and the doors it opens for serving our community.

We are moving in, decorating and lovingly taking care of some old-building quirks. Prenatals, consultations and lactation visits are already in full swing.

We will host an open house soon so you can come and check out our cozy clinic. Stay tuned for that. And in the meantime, enjoy this sneak peek of our sweet space.

This is the hill I will die on. Admittedly, I have a few hills. A collection of hills. A tiny mountain range, if you will. But this one is definitely a prominent one.

I do not care who tells you it’s normal. I do not care if they went to medical school. I do not care if they birthed you. I do not care if they are a lactation professional. If they’re telling you it’s normal, they’re wrong.

Common, yes. But pain with nursing is symptomatic of something that needs to be addressed.

Sometimes changes in positioning make a big impact. Body work for baby is sometimes appropriate. Sometimes it’s a matter of knowing what to look for in baby and then having the patience to let your baby do their part.

But pain is a symptom. And you deserve to be taken seriously, and to be supported in finding your solution. Full stop.

One of my very favorite aspects of lactation work is helping parents get out of pain. Sometimes it’s relatively easy, other times it’s not. It may take work, and it may take more than one support visit to get there. But let’s work on getting you there.

Common ≠ normal.

If you’re having a hard time finding a lactation care provider that will actually help, call me.

Insurance round up! 💫

Currently, these are all the options to pay for doula services using your insurance.

As the value of doulas is becoming more and more recognized, thanks to the associations, organizations and individuals advocating for access to doula care for all, at all levels of government, I’m hopeful more insurance companies will join this list.

For now, this is just for doula services. As I work toward being eligible to sit for the lactation boards, I am doing what I can to make lactation care just as accessible. I’m working with one insurance company on becoming an in-network provider, so keep your eyes peeled for that in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, sliding scale is always an option, as are extended payment plans for those who do have to pay out of pocket.

❤️

Winter classes are happening! Sign up is now live✨

We will be starting January 15th and spend six Wednesday evenings together learning about the physiology of birth, how to support it, what interventions are common and we’ll spend the last class diving into the basics of breastfeeding.

Sign up is live on my website. I only have a limited number of spots available for this series, so grabs yours as soon as you decide you want to join us.

✨AMAZING NEWS✨ for Moda PEBB members!

I am accepting Moda Health PEBB members for doula services effective 01/01/2025. My support is included in your insurance benefits package in the new year!

Your 2025 benefits will include 8 total visits and full labor support. What I love about this benefit is that we get to customize the visits, meaning we can decide at which points during pregnancy or postpartum we want to have our visits. Anxious about birth and want more support during pregnancy? Let’s do it! Expect you’ll want more support after you have your baby? Awesome! Want to split it 50/50? I’m down for that too.

I am beyond psyched that doula care is becoming more and more accessible. Having a doula by your side is a game changer when you are welcoming a baby into your family. And having a doula that’s also a lactation counselor is just a nice fringe benefit, wouldn’t you say?

If you’re on Moda Health PEBB benefits and are expecting a baby in 2025, reach out now! My calendar fills up fast these days, so let’s talk.
