Recovery Day at the Capital was a success! Some of our CHW team enjoyed celebrating progress in the world of recovery, community connection, learning about new resources, and working to play a part in breaking the stigma surrounding substance use and addiction.

Our PrimaryPlus-Morehead team enjoyed their time at the Rowan County Senior Center providing diabetes education with some good old fashioned competition mixed in. Shelby Richmond, APRN who offers Family Medicine and also specializes in Advanced Diabetes Managment at PrimaryPlus-Morehead kicked off the day with some blood sugar facts to know🩸, our clinical pharmacy team joined into to talk about medication management 💊 and our Community Health Worker team wrapped up the day with a fun, friendly game of Diabetes Bingo♥️.

It is National Community Health Worker (CHW) Awareness Week. PrimaryPlus is very lucky to have a team of Community Health Workers to CONNECT resources, serve as ADVOCATES and to INVEST in our patients lives and INVEST in our communities beyond the exam room. Our CHWs serve as liaisons for our medical team to help meet meet social needs, provide health education and serve as an encourager.

As we round out the week, we place the spotlight on Avery Hall that covers our Carter, Rowan, Greenup and Boyd County regions. Avery loves being the bridge between the patient and provider--meeting people where they are and helping them find resources. Learn more about Avery below and her heart for work.

Our PrimaryPlus pharmacy and nursing team joined forces today to present at the 2nd Annual Nursing Summit hosted by the Northeast Kentucky AHEC. Pharmacist, Tiffany Fritz, PharmD; Resident Pharmacist, Katherine Philpot, PharmD; and Registered Nurse, Rick Carroll with our Infusion Department highlighted the important topic of Preventing Medication Errors to nurses throughout the region.

We are always thankful to be part of a region that invests in our nursing workforce and are happy to be part of the continuing education. Thanks for having us today!!!

Today, we put the spotlight Cara Dunaway that covers our Bracken and Mason County regions. Cara has worked for PrimaryPlus for many years, but is new to the CHW role. Cara has always shown great compassion for others and when she expressed interest in the role, we knew she would be a GREAT addition to the CHW team.
