Tamarack Health is proud to announce that Nichole Marleau and William Carli are the recipients of the North Star Employee Excellence Award, recognizing their outstanding commitment to patient care and service.

In Hayward, Nichole was nominated by a grateful parent who explained how Nichole provided physical therapy care with compassion and understanding far above expectations.

"She delivered her knowledge in such an empowering way as a patient, especially with such a touchy subject; never once did I feel shame or embarrassed. I felt heard, I felt valued and validated, I felt comfortable, and I knew I was in such good hands for my care. Nichole was truly such a blessing to my recovery.”

In Ashland, William was nominated by a patient undergoing a routine vision test. When Will noticed something a little off, he did some extra tests, brought in the doctors, and it was discovered that the patient had a macular hole.

“He had an idea that something was really wrong by the results of the vision test. He made sure I knew he was not a doctor, but had enough experience to know that this needed to be brought to the doctor’s attention. I will be having surgery to repair the hole and hopefully restore my vision. I want to thank Will for taking the time to do the extra tests that were needed to find the problem.”

Happy National Healthcare Week!

This week, from May 11–17, we join the American Hospital Association in celebrating National Hospital Week under the theme We Are Health Care. It's a time to honor the 5,000 hospitals, health systems, and networks nationwide and the dedicated individuals within them who provide expert care to our communities.

At Tamarack Health, we celebrated with a staff breakfast at both Hayward Medical Center and Ashland Medical Center. We are incredibly thankful for the dedication, compassion and care our staff demonstrate each day.

On Friday, Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center had the pleasure of welcoming a group of students as part of the Culture Shock program which is an immersive learning experience designed to bridge the gap between rural and urban health care perspectives.

Led by Brad Gingras and Niccy Omann of Northwest Wisconsin AHEC, Culture Shock brings together students from both rural and urban areas to explore the unique challenges and opportunities within different health care environments across Wisconsin. During their visit, students learned about the distinctive culture and practices of rural health care at Tamarack Health.

From there, students received a tour of Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center to learn more about the services provided by Tamarack Health. The participants ended their learning experience with a lunch conversation with senior leaders.
