Happy Wednesday 🌱

One thing I’ve noticed over and over in my office through the years…

When the body is depleted in foundational nutrients, it’s very difficult to build true health.

It’s a lot like gardening.

If the soil is depleted, nothing really thrives—no matter how much effort we put into the surface.

It’s the same with our health.

We want more energy.
Better digestion.
Balanced blood sugar.
Weight loss that actually lasts.

But if the foundation is depleted, the body often struggles to respond the way we want it to.

One foundational nutrient I consistently see people lacking is folate—not synthetic folic acid, but real, whole food folate that the body can actually recognize and use.

One of the foundational tools we often use in our office for this kind of depletion is a whole food supplement by Standard Process called Whole Food Folate—especially when we’re seeing patterns connected to stress, nervous system imbalance, fatigue, or MTHFR variations.

When the foundation is supported well, the body is often much more capable of responding the way it was designed to.

🌿 Just something I’ve been reflecting on this week as I’ve been out tending to the soil in my garden… and thinking about how similar that process really is to our health.

If you’ve been struggling to feel your best and have questions about where to start, feel free to text our office to set up a free consultation šŸ¤ 573-819-7513

😓 Nourish Your Way to Better Sleep

Did you know your evening snack could actually help you drift off more easily?
Certain foods are naturally rich in magnesium, tryptophan, B-vitamins, and calming plant compounds that support your body’s ability to relax and reset.

šŸ’ Cherries, kiwi, and bananas contain nutrients that help your body produce melatonin — your natural sleep hormone.
🌰 Nuts and seeds like walnuts, pistachios, almonds, and pumpkin seeds are full of magnesium to calm the nervous system.
🄣 Oatmeal, quinoa, and lentils supply complex carbs that help serotonin production.
🌿 And a cup of chamomile tea or warm yogurt with figs makes a gentle, soothing bedtime ritual.

🚫 Foods & Habits to Avoid Before Bed

Just as some foods help you sleep, others can sabotage it. A few simple swaps can make a big difference:

• Skip large meals late at night. Heavy or greasy foods keep your digestive system working overtime.
• Avoid refined sugar and desserts — they spike blood sugar and can wake you during the night.
• Limit caffeine (coffee, energy drinks, chocolate, even green tea) after noon; its half-life lingers for hours.
• Watch alcohol. It might make you drowsy initially, but it fragments deep sleep.
• Cut back on ultra-processed snacks high in sodium or MSG; they dehydrate and stimulate the nervous system.
• Put away screens and dim lights an hour before bed to let melatonin rise naturally.

šŸŒ™ Evening Rhythm Reminder

A calm nervous system = restorative sleep.

Try pairing one of these sleep-boosting foods with quiet rituals — gentle stretching, prayer or journaling, and a few deep breaths — to signal your body it’s safe to rest.

Spring has me back outside again…

clearing out weeds, turning the soil, thinking about what I want to grow this season 🌱

And it got me thinking…

we put so much care into the foundation of our gardens—

but how often do we do the same for our own bodies?

Sleep.
Hydration.
Stress.
Real food.

These are the things that actually determine how we feel day to day.

Just something I’ve been reflecting on…

Spring always pulls me back outside…

working in the yard, thinking about what I want to plant, what I want to grow this year. 🌱

And it got me thinking…

we pay so much attention to the soil—
making sure it’s rich, nourished, and ready to support growth.

Because we know…
if the foundation isn’t right, nothing really thrives.

And yet, how often do we think about that for our own bodies?

Are we building a healthy foundation?

– getting enough sleep
– staying hydrated
– stepping out of that constant fight-or-flight mode
– getting outside and breathing in the morning sunlight
– nourishing our bodies with real, whole food

Or are we just pushing through… expecting ourselves to feel good anyway?

Sometimes wellness isn’t about doing more…

it’s about creating the right environment for your body to actually feel safe enough to function well.

Just something I’ve been reflecting on as I start planting again this season 🌿

What are you planting this spring—
both in your yard… and in your life?

I’ve been noticing something lately…

Fear doesn’t just create stress…it creates interference.

It can cloud our thinking, tighten the body, and make it harder to feel clear about what we’re being guided toward.

This week, I found myself reflecting on control, expectations, and how often we try to manage outcomes instead of trusting the process.

This new blog is a deeper look at that shift—learning to let go, quiet the noise, and come back to a place of trust.✨

šŸŽ™ļøSomething hit me this week… and I had to talk about it.

Fear doesn’t just create stress…
it creates interference.

And that interference can block us from hearing what God is trying to guide us toward.

This episode is real, personal, and something I’m walking through right now—
learning to let go of control, release expectations, and truly trust God.

šŸ—£ļø When the Body Speaks

Yesterday, I shared a blog about learning to listen to the body…

But sometimes, there’s more to say.

So I recorded a podcast—
a more personal, real conversation about what it looks like to slow down, tune in, and respond differently when the body starts speaking.

This isn’t about doing things perfectly.

It’s about showing up…
listening a little more…
and trusting the next step.

šŸŽ™ New episode of The Conscious Life is now live.

When the Body Speaks… Are We Ready to Listen?

Sometimes the body gives us signals long before something becomes a bigger issue.

The past few days, I experienced a shift—
congestion, pressure, that feeling of being a little ā€œoff.ā€

In the past, I might have pushed through or labeled it as seasonal.

But this time, I took a different approach.

Instead of trying to quiet the symptoms right away,
I asked:

šŸ‘‰ What is my body responding to?

Often what we call ā€œallergiesā€ or ā€œflare-upsā€
can be tied to a combination of:
• stress and nervous system load
• environmental triggers
• immune system overload
• lack of adequate rest and recovery

The body doesn’t randomly react—it responds.

When we begin to understand those signals,
we can support the body more effectively instead of just managing symptoms.

I shared more about this shift and a simple way to begin tuning in on the blog.

🌿 Spring allergies… or is your body trying to tell you something deeper? šŸ¤”

Every year we’re told:
ā€œIt’s just pollen.ā€
ā€œTake something and get through it.ā€

But what if symptoms like:
• congestion
• headache
• fatigue
• itchy eyes
• sinus pressure

…are actually a sign your body is overwhelmed? 😳

In my latest blog, I walk through:
āœ”ļø What’s really happening inside the body
āœ”ļø Why the same people struggle every year
āœ”ļø And how to begin supporting your system naturally

This is the root-cause conversation we’re not having enough. šŸ¤”

🌸 Spring Allergies? Your Body Might Be Asking for Support šŸ¤”

Spring is such a beautiful season… but for many, it also brings allergies 🤧🌸

I’ve been having more conversations around this lately, so I put together a new blog sharing what’s really going on beneath the surface—and how to support your body naturally.

What most people don’t realize is…
Allergies aren’t just about pollen.

They’re often a sign that the body is overwhelmed and not clearing things as efficiently as it should.

🌿 Supporting the liver
🌿 Supporting the immune response
🌿 Reducing internal inflammation

These are the root pieces that can make a real difference.

We use simple, whole food–based support like Antronex and Allergco in our practice to help the body respond more calmly during allergy season—without just masking symptoms.

If you tend to struggle this time of year, now is the time to support your body before symptoms escalate.

šŸ‘‰ I shared more in my latest blog (and linked a previous post at the bottom for a deeper dive). Link in comments.

Let me know—are allergies something you deal with every spring?
