Although it looks rather nasty, the skin lesion pictured is actually benign (non-cancerous). It is called a seborrheic keratosis (SK) and is one of the most common types of skin growths. While these lesions are not cancerous, they can be itchy, tender, and a real blemish on our appearance. Nicknamed as the “Barnacles of Aging,” SK’s become increasingly common as we age. Some people have a genetic propensity to grow them while long-term sun exposure seems to be an additional risk factor in their development.

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I didn’t even know I had been voted Favorite Chiropractor in Medford for 2024 by the Medford Sneak Preview readers until a few days ago when a patient brought it to my attention. Although I moved my practice location 15 mins down the road to N Ashland at the beginning of last year, it’s nice to know my Medford peeps still appreciate my care.
