Vaccination rates are available on public databases. At Ashland Children’s Clinic we do require that patients receive vaccinations against RESPIRATORY TRANSMITTED diseases in order to be a patient. This not only protects your child but also protects other children who share the same space and cannot be immunized for medical reasons (such as transplant medications or cancer therapy) or have immune system problems. Diseases that are vaccine preventable and transmitted by breathing the same air are
Pertussis (whooping cough)
Diphtheria
Spinal meningitis (due to Hemophilus influenza type b and meningococcus)
Pneumococcal disease ( pneumonia and meningitis)
Varicella (chicken pox)
Measles
Mumps
Rubella
Influenza, COVID and RSV are transmitted by respiratory droplets but do not cause severe Illness in most people at this time. Influenza and COVID both mutate and severe strains may circulate periodically (swine flu, original COVID strain). Even thought they ARE transmitted by respiratory droplets, we do not require these
Vaccines that prevent diseases that require ingestion or exposure to body fluids are recommended but NOT required to be a patient. These are
Rotavirus
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
HPV
Tetanus
Some vaccines are only available in combinations of more than one virus/bacteria.
