Friends 📣if the legendary Inca Trail and Machu Picchu are on your bucket list, this is your moment.

Our MedTreks Peru Inca Trail hiking adventure this September was full, but we just received some exciting news — two additional Inca Trail permits have opened up. 🎉

These permits are first come, first served, and they will disappear quickly.

If hiking the Classic 4-day Inca Trail into Machu Picchu has been something you’ve dreamed about, snag your spot.

As many of you know, now is also a particularly special time to visit Peru before the new international airport in the Sacred Valley becomes fully operational. It’s a unique window to experience the region while it still feels a little quieter and less traveled.

Not interested in hiking the Inca Trail? No prob ☺️ We are also offering scenic train journey into Machu Picchu, traveling through the Sacred Valley with several additional cultural and historical excursions along the way.

The faces of our team ✨ On your courses, behind the scenes, in the emails…and on the trails… ✌🏽 Meet Sarah!!

Sarah Sarfaty, B.S., A-EMT, FAWM

Sarah has been operating as an outdoor professional for the past decade, where she has held a variety of guiding jobs around the world. She earned her BS in biology from Colorado Mesa University. Her outdoor interests include skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoneering, SCUBA diving, backpacking, and mountaineering. Through these passions, she reconnected to her medical roots, as outdoor emergencies prompted her to earn first her WFR, then her EMT, then her AEMT. She applied this combined passion by instructing wilderness medicine for various organizations including WFA, WFR, and WLS:MP for various groups around the world. In 2024, Sarah completed her Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM) and currently serves on the WMS JEDI Committee. The best place to find her outside with her dog.

We are excited to have Sarah join us this summer as faculty for the Kern River trip and as part of our team for the Wilderness Medicine Instructor Course 👏🏽

NEXT WEEK!! ⛰️🏔 Outdoor Medicine Collective — Bend, Oregon… we don’t just offer trips to exotic places! We host rad events and build community right in our backyard ✌🏽

March 11–15, 2026

We’re bringing the MedTreks community back to the mountains for a winter gathering of clinicians who love both medicine and the outdoors. The Outdoor Medicine Collective is a chance to expand your wilderness medicine skills while enjoying a few winter days in the Cascades with a group of like-minded healthcare professionals.

Here is what next week is going to look like:

❄️ Learn Wilderness Medicine in the Cascades
A small gathering of clinicians diving into practical wilderness medicine topics in one of the most beautiful mountain towns in the Pacific Northwest.

🎓 Earn CME Credits
Earn up to 28 hours of Category 1 CME (MD/DO/NP/PA) plus CE credits for RNs.

🩺 Hands-On Skills Workshops
Interactive sessions focused on real-world outdoor medicine scenarios and practical field skills.

🏔 Optional IWLS Certification
Arrive early to complete International Wilderness Life Support for Medical Professionals (IWLS) March 10–11 and earn an additional 28 CME hours.

⛷ Adventure Between Sessions
Snowshoe, ski, or explore the trails around Bend before afternoon lectures.

🍻 Community Evenings
Think ski films, brewery gatherings, and great conversations with fellow outdoor-loving clinicians.

✨ Reconnect with Your People
A few days to learn, recharge, and share your passion for wilderness medicine in the mountains.

⛰️Each March, we take time to share a little more about who we are and why MedTreks exists. Not just the trips. Not just the CME. But the heart behind it all.

Yes, we are a travel company.
Yes, we are an education company.

But more than that, we are building a community.

A community of medical professionals who still believe in curiosity. Who are willing to step outside their comfort zones. Who care deeply about the world and the people in it. Who ask thoughtful questions. Who listen to different perspectives. Who want to understand how others live, work, heal, and thrive.

In a time when it can feel easy to retreat inward, we believe in leaning outward — toward connection, toward shared experiences, toward growth. We believe that when healthcare professionals gather in wild, beautiful places, something shifts. Conversations deepen. Friendships form. Perspectives widen. And we return home changed in the best possible ways.

Thank you for being part of this community — whether you’ve traveled with us, joined a course, or simply followed along online.

We’ll be sharing more throughout the month about what drives us, what we’re building, and the people who make this all so special.

Ok friends ✌🏽 we are only 24 hrs into our Antarctica voyage… if this trip is on your bucket list (and even if it’s not..) … make it happen 🙌🏽 We are running this trip ONE more time next year… we have limited spots left on our Antarctica CME voyage to 2027…reserve your spot before it’s too late… this place is incredible. IWLS is a 28-hour, Category 1 CME–accredited certification course designed for physicians, NPs, PAs, nurses, and EMS professionals who want to practice medicine beyond traditional care settings. Whether you’re leading expeditions, volunteering internationally, working in rural environments, or simply preparing for the unexpected

Through a blend of online modules and immersive, hands-on field training, you’ll build real-world skills in austere patient assessment, trauma management, improvised care, risk reduction, leadership under stress, and global health considerations.
