Take a breath with us on the next episode of Keeping Ashland Healthy. My guest is Ashland University Yoga Instructor, Jenn English. Jenn has spent more than twenty years discovering how simple practices—movement, breath, and mindfulness—can transform everyday well-being. We’ll talk about how yoga moved from a fitness class to a way of life and how small daily habits can reduce stress and improve health. Don’t miss this conversation that will help you slow down, breathe deeper, and take a step toward a healthier life. Questions? Contact Jenn at jenglis2@ashland.edu. Mark your calendars!

Many of us are feeling the effects of polarization more than ever — it influences how we connect, communicate, and even our mental well-being. Join us for a FREE community education and training hosted by Redbird Resilient, where we’ll explore what polarization is, why it matters, and how to navigate difficult conversations with greater clarity and connection.

Presenters include David Ross, Executive Director of the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Ashland County; Dr. Jeffery Elbert, Chair and Assistant Professor of Communication Studies; and Dr. Craig Hovey, Director of the Ashland Center for Nonviolence and Professor of Religion at Ashland University. Together, they’ll share valuable insights and practical strategies for building understanding in these challenging times.

Let’s come together to learn, listen, and strengthen our community!

Mindfulness isn’t about emptying your mind—it’s about paying attention.

In a world that moves fast, mindfulness gives us a chance to slow down. It invites us to notice the present moment—what we see, feel, and hear—without judgment. Whether it’s taking a deep breath before a meeting, savoring a warm cup of coffee, or walking outside and noticing the sounds of spring, mindfulness helps us reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.

Small moments of awareness can lead to less stress, more calm, and a greater sense of well-being. 💚

David sits down with Dr. Yvonne Glass of Ashland Theological Seminary to talk about something many communities are wrestling with—how faith, counseling, and community support can work together to strengthen mental health. We’ll explore why belonging, purpose, and connection matter so much for emotional well-being, and what faith communities can do to help people thrive. Don’t miss this thoughtful conversation—right here on Keeping Ashland Healthy. Listen to Keeping Ashland Healthy on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. Questions? You have a story.

When people meet you, they aren’t meeting you at the beginning of your story… you are a book-in-progress.

Your community has a story. Full of people all experiencing something different.

And yet, we all need the same thing: support.

The Ashland Mental Health and Recovery Board strives to create an environment that brings hope. By improving the quality of life for those in our community affected by trauma, mental health challenges and/or drug/alcohol abuse and addictions, we serve as a resource. For you, for Ashland, and the chapters that lie ahead for our community.
