Our Story

Huhn Rx Drug is a locally owned pharmacy and we have a personal commitment to the Chequamegon Bay community. There's nothing more important to us than your family's well-being. You'll always work with somebody at Huhn Rx Drug who greets you by name, and our pharmacists take the time to get to know you, explain your medication, and answer questions you may have. Huhn Rx Drug is a trusted healthcare resource.

A BRIEF HISTORY: HUHN HEALTHMART PHARMACY

There has always been a pharmacy located in Ashland's Historic Masonic Temple building. Built in 1895, one of its original tenants was Franklin Warner who operated Warner Drug. He was eventually joined in business by his brother Albert, and the name was changed to Warner Brothers Drug. In October of 1927, Henry Stemm purchased the pharmacy and renamed it Stemm Drug. The next owner was Clayton McKinney who ran McKinney Drug until he sold it to Tom Woods in June 1955. Wood's Rexall Drug was a fixture in Ashland for many years (notice the name above our Main Street entrance) until Mr. Woods retired in June 1991. Gerald Huhn then became the new owner, and for the next nearly 20 years it was known as Huhn Rx Drug. When Mr. Huhn decided to retire in September 2010, he sold it to the locally owned Prohaska Pharmacy Group, and the pharmacy became a HealthMart franchise. Now called Huhn HealthMart Pharmacy, we continue to be your friendly and helpful one-stop destination for your healthcare needs. Our staff all live, work, and shop in the same neighborhoods as the people the pharmacy serves--we have a vested interest in taking care of our community!

For 120 years, people in the Ashland area have known where to go for their prescriptions--the corner of Main Street and 6th Ave West. We are proud to be your locally owned and operated pharmacy, and look forward to serving the area for another 120 years. See you at the pharmacy!
