Labor is a time when your body communicates clearly. You might feel the urge to stand, rest, sway, vocalize, or shift into a new position. These instincts are not random. They are your body asking for support, balance, and space. At Ashland Birth Center, we encourage you to pay attention to those cues and respond in whatever way feels right. You do not need permission to move, rest, or ask for help. Our care is built around trusting you to lead. Listening to your body is not just a comfort measure. It is a powerful tool.

Eating well during pregnancy does not mean following a perfect plan. It means listening to your body, choosing foods that give you steady energy, and staying hydrated. Balanced meals with protein, fiber, and healthy fats can help reduce nausea, improve energy, and support your growing baby. We can talk through simple ways to nourish yourself, even when days are busy or appetite shifts. What matters most is that you feel supported and cared for.

Wearing your baby helps them feel calm, secure, and connected. It supports healthy development, reduces crying, and makes everyday tasks more manageable for you. Whether you use a wrap, ring sling, or soft carrier, babywearing allows you to stay close and responsive while also caring for yourself. We are happy to help you explore the different options and find what works for your body and your baby.

January was a beautiful, cold, snowy month to be blessed with so many babies! We had moms on their 6th baby, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st baby! There were babies who were born in the morning, noon and night; all one at a time without overlap. The birth center house is full of love and gratitude for all the special moments we have shared here. Welcome little ones and congratulations to your growing families!

Holding your baby skin-to-skin after birth helps regulate breathing, heart rate, and body temperature. It also encourages early feeding and supports the bond between you and your baby. These first moments are about more than connection. They help your baby adjust to the world gently, with your body as their anchor. We protect this time and give you the space to rest and hold your baby without interruption.

The first signs of labor are often slow and gentle. You may feel cramping, pressure, or waves of tightness that come and go. This early phase is important, even when it feels quiet. It is your body preparing, softening, and finding its rhythm. You do not need to rush or perform. Rest, eat if you feel hungry, and let the day unfold. We are here to support you whenever you are ready, but you are also welcome to stay home and settle into your own pace.
