Hanover Yoga & Wellness

Hanover Yoga & Wellness Offering Yoga & Meditation sessions for folks with disabilities and their caregivers. Sarah has been offering private Yoga sessions and events ever since.

We are a small Yoga community in Hanover County, VA founded in 2015 by Sarah Brannan Bunger Horne. Over the past decade Hanover Yoga & Wellness has helped humans of all shapes and backgrounds connect with the benefits of practicing Yoga. This small business used to be a brick and mortar boutique fitness studio prior to 2020 but during and after the pandemic, the studio’s physical space closed. Over the years, Sarah has been eager to reunite this Community and offer Yoga services to the public again. And this time, Hanover Yoga will offer Yoga and Mediation sessions specifically designed and catered for the special needs community - individuals with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities. We will also continue to serve bodies of all ages, shapes, and abilities - but most importantly, we specifically serve folks with disabilities and their caretakers. The Founder of Hanover Yoga & Wellness, Sarah has a son with several intellectual disabilities and Autism, and they needed a community and space to practice Yoga where her son and her family felt accepted and loved. So here we are! Our Mission: Breathe. Educate. Advocate. Inspire. We respond to life through our nervous system’s natural fight or flight reaction. Our mission is to help folks breathe, become aware of their nervous system, educate to bring awareness, advocate for change, and inspire to heal collectively. We strive to inspire and help humans of all shapes and sizes find holistic ways to relieve tension, pain, and trauma in the physical body, as well as release emotional stress within the mind, so we may feel more comfortable and confident in our body and lives. We specifically provide a space for folks with special needs and disabilities to show up, be exposed to Yoga and Meditation practices, and feel welcomed. Weirdness is welcomed!

🌎 Earth Day Rally coming right up! A little bit different of a vibe for this rally - we're dedicating this one to the kids.

(And don't worry, adults are still invited, we know you are still young at heart!)

🌱 In 2026, Earth Day means standing up against the corporations exploiting our planet and her resources for profit.

🌞 Data centers don't belong in our communities, and they don't belong in our children's future. There is NO planet B.

✊ So this year, we're defending the Earth. We are holding the line. And we hope you and your family will join us! See you at the rally. 🌎

Never Forget. Always remembering my fellow Hokies. ❤️‍🩹

Hokies for life.

Today, we stand together in remembrance of the lives lost on April 16, 2007—a day that forever shaped the Virginia Tech community and our town.

As members of the Blacksburg Police Department, we pause to honor the victims, support their families, and reflect alongside our community. The strength, resilience, and unity shown in the years since continue to define what it means to be a Hokie.

Today, we are all Hokies.

We remember. We stand together. We carry forward the spirit of Ut Prosim—That I May Serve.

💙 Project Lifesaver: A Life-Saving Success Story 💙

On April 3rd, deputies responded to a call for a missing juvenile with non-verbal autism who had run from his home into a wooded area.

Time is critical in situations like these. Within minutes, deputies established a perimeter and deployed drone resources. Fortunately, the child was enrolled in our Project Lifesaver Program and the initial deputies on scene were equipped with a Project Lifesaver tracking receiver—and that made all the difference. Upon acquiring the transmitter signal, deputies located the child’s clothing and shoes in a swamp. The child was then located unclothed, approximately two miles from the residence, within 23 minutes of our arrival.

Because of Project Lifesaver, this situation had a safe and swift outcome.

Project Lifesaver is a program we offer free of charge to families with loved ones who may be prone to wandering due to cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, traumatic brain injury, Down syndrome, or autism.

Participants are provided with a small, watch-sized transmitter, and our deputies are equipped with specialized tracking equipment to quickly locate them if they go missing.

This program significantly reduces search times—and more importantly, saves lives.

If you have a child, parent, or grandparent who may benefit from this program, we strongly encourage you to register.
