Meet Deanna Cotney, RN

“I have been a nurse for 32 years, and I have always worked locally throughout my career. I’ve spent 15 of those years in Hospice nursing and 17 years in long-term care—all right here in Clay County.

“There is nothing that compares to being able to care for our home folks here in our county. We are blessed to live and work in this little piece of Heaven on Earth called Clay County!”

Meet Samantha Huggart, RN – Hospice of Clay County

“I have been an RN for 5 years now, and I’ve worked in long-term care, ICU, Med Surg, and surgery clinic settings before I found my home with Hospice of Clay County. I’ve been in hospice care for 1 year now, and I truly feel like this is where I’m meant to be.

Working locally gives me the opportunity to be a comfort and helper to our community and their families. Hospice care can be heavy for patients and caregivers, and being able to help lighten that load—to make the hard moments a little easier—genuinely makes my soul happy.

Clay County is a small town that takes care of each other, and I’m grateful to serve in a role that reflects that every single day.”

If you ordered Krispy Kreme donuts from Hospice of Clay County, they are currently on their way back to the hospital now from Gadsden! We should be able to start giving them out between 12:00-12:30 in the hospital cafeteria! We will have a few extras, and they are first come, first serve! Thank y’all so much! 💜

🌿 Meet the Staff Friday! 🌿
Today we’re excited to introduce Kelleth Halfmann, our amazing Office Manager here at Hospice of Clay County!

Kelleth is the proud wife of Austin Halfmann and the loving mom of Gunner, Allie, and Kolton. She’s been in healthcare for three years as a CNA and has spent the last eight months serving in hospice care.

Kelleth grew up in Bonifay, Florida, and says her journey into hospice was truly “a God thing.” She never planned on it, but God opened the door — and she’s so grateful He did!

Her favorite part of her job? Billing (yes, really!) and working alongside her wonderful coworkers. She also loves meeting families and being a small part of their lives during meaningful times.

Outside of work, Kelleth enjoys reading, going on walks, and baking (a true passion of hers!). Her comfort food of choice is definitely Mexican — tacos, cheese dips, and guacamole are always a win!

A few fun facts:

🎤 She’d love to instantly master singing and playing the piano

This week we’re excited to introduce you to Dakota Baker, CNA!

Dakota has 6 years of healthcare experience, with the last 1 ½ spent in hospice care. A Clay County native, her heart for hospice was inspired by her grandfather: “My grandfather was on hospice many years ago, and the look on his face when the nurses and CNAs would come to see him made me want to bring joy like that to others.” 💜

• 🎯 Hobby: shooting guns (and she’s pretty good at it!)
