Mashkiiziibii Run Group Kickoff
Miigwech to everyone who completed the Mashkiiziibii Run Group questionnaire! Your feedback was incredibly helpful and we’re excited to officially get started.
This group is completely free & open to all ages and experience levels. We do recommend being able to run (or walk) 3 miles by Feb 18 start to training for the half marathon, but we're here to help get you there if you're not there yet! And if you want to be a part of the group but not train for the race or do a different mileage amount that's ok too!
Official Training Kickoff: Wednesday, February 18 4-5pm.
Our first full group run/walk and kickoff event. 12 weeks from race day. More details to come.
Intro to Run drop in sessions:
Between now and Feb. 18, both Fred and Jen will be hosting informal meet-ups and drop-in sessions to help you get started! There's lots of days & times to pick from (in the TeamReach app, link below). Send us a message of which day/time you'd like to meet with us or just stop by!
If you are not currently running or walking 3 miles these drop in sessions are to help prepare you. We can help with interval running, safe progression, return-to-run testing, and building confidence step by step.
Coaching Roles
*Fred will lead youth runners and advanced runners (those working toward PRs) & those needing extra personal training support.
*Jen will focus on new runners, runners completing their first half marathon, and anyone needing extra physical therapy support.
Communication & Support:
We’ll use TeamReach (not social media) for schedules, reminders, tips, accountability, and check-ins. Link below. Code: Badriver26
Based on your feedback, throughout the training we’ll include guidance on:
• nutrition & hydration
• footwear & running form
• breathing & pacing
• stretching, mobility & strength
• injury prevention
We will offer:
• weekly group run options
• group strength/stretch sessions
• virtual check-ins if you can’t meet in person
Race (Optional):
You do not need to be registered for the Madeline Island Half Marathon to join the group.
If cost to race is a barrier, let us know - our goal is to secure fundraising and support race fees for everyone who wants to participate.

*12 week plan for mileage, strength & stretch

*Wrap-up celebration: week after the race
