Today, April 10, is National Donate Life Blue and Green Day, a time set aside to raise awareness for organ, eye, and tissue donation.
💚💙💚💙💚
April is National Donate Life Month, a time to honor all organ donors. But organ donation isn’t only possible after death. Living organ donation allows a healthy person age 19 or older to donate a kidney or part of their liver to someone on the transplant waiting list.
Most living donors donate to a family member or friend, but some choose to donate to someone they don’t even know.
Did you know:
More than 100,000 people are on organ transplant waitlists across the U.S.
Every eight minutes, another person is added to the national transplant waiting list.
13 people die each day while waiting for an organ transplant.
Learn about becoming a living organ donor.
Why living organ donation matters.....
Living organ donation allows a donor to give a life-changing gift. It also offers significant health benefits for recipients.
It can reduce someone’s wait time for an organ transplant.
Donating a kidney can prevent or shorten the need for dialysis in patients with kidney disease.
Surgery can happen when it is most convenient for the recipient and organ donation is a uniquely rewarding experience and an opportunity to save a life.
Before deciding to donate, it's important to learn as much as possible about living donation.
Become a living donor. 💚💙💚💙💚

😊Thank you to Miss Rueb and the fifth grade students for visiting us today and helping our residents dye Easter eggs! It brought back so many wonderful memories of coloring eggs with their own children. 🌼 🌺 We were also delighted by a special visit from the Easter Bunny! 🐰

Last week was Human Resources Week… and yes, we know what you’re thinking — “Did you forget?” 🤔

Nope. Not even a little.

We actually CHOSE not to make a big post… because we know Karen. If we had asked her to share something about herself, it would have quietly disappeared into the HR abyss along with about 47 other things she handles every day.

Karen isn’t one for recognition — but she is the one who keeps everything (and everyone) moving for 120+ employees. From the daily HR duties, workforce safety coordinator, scheduling along with learning her new role as payroll clerk. The early mornings, late afternoons, questions, questions, questions, paperwork, problem-solving, and everything in between… she’s there.

So while we may be a week late publicly, we are right on time in saying:

Thank you, Karen, for the long hours, the steady presence, and all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps this place running. We appreciate you more than you know.

💙💛World Down Syndrome Day 2026 | Together Against Loneliness💙💛
Loneliness is not an individual issue — it’s a social one. For many people with Down syndrome, loneliness is created by barriers to inclusion, limited access to opportunities, and systems that too often exclude rather than embrace.
This year’s World Down Syndrome Day theme, Together Against Loneliness, challenges us to look beyond awareness and toward action. Being present is not the same as belonging. True inclusion means meaningful relationships, accessible spaces, and opportunities to participate fully in community life — at school, at work, and in social settings.
Loneliness has real impacts on mental health, confidence, and well-being. It is not inevitable — and it is not acceptable.
Standing together against loneliness means removing barriers, challenging stigma, and intentionally creating inclusive communities where people with Down syndrome are valued, supported, and heard.
On March 21, and every day, we raise our voices for belonging — because no one should be left out, and no one should stand alone

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing screening rates, educating the public, and supporting patients.
This disease is often preventable and highly treatable when caught early. Routine screening can detect precancerous polyps before they turn into cancer.
If you’re 45+ or have risk factors, talk to your provider about screening.
Call Ashley Medical Center Clinic at 701-288-3488 to set up your screening.
