Offering consultation, seat selection, installation, troubleshooting, seat checks and more. My name is Megan Reynolds. I have a son that was born May of 2023. I was a nurse for 8 years and still hold a valid LPN license. During my pregnancy, due to complications I was on strict physical limitations along with high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. My son was born premature at 35 weeks. Bein
g a nurse I was so scared of the possibilities, having seen so many things. I had done so much research on car seats and safety, you know, all the first-time mom things. Picking out a car seat and travel system was so difficult. I was trying to pick the right things and worried about what would be best and what would work the best based on what we needed and our lifestyle. When I was researching and looking for guidance I realized that there wasn’t very many services, if any, that would help with what I was looking for. November of 2023 I took a class from Safe Kids Worldwide that works with NHTSA to form a curriculum and completed with a certificate as a Certified Passenger Safety Technician also known as a CPST. I became a CPST to pursue helping other parents in ways that I wish I had access to during pregnancy and the other difficult choices of car seats and safety. During my training I realized that although I had educated myself prior to classes that there was so much more I would have never known without becoming a professional. I plan to continue with education to better and expand my knowledge of car seat safety. I look forward to working caregivers to provide the education and knowledge to keep kids safe in the sear! What is a CPST? Child Passenger Safety Technicians are car seat experts who have taken a class with curriculum written by NHTSA in collaboration with National CPS Board and Safe Kids Worldwide. During the class they learn the ins and outs of car seats, installation options, vehicle differences, harnessing procedures and more. They practice hands-on exercises where an instructor checks to make sure they understand what they are doing and why. Our goal is to provide caregivers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to keep every kid safe during transportation. Our certification is nationally recognized and our practice area is worldwide. Although most technicians will specialize in there area such as United States, and are able to practice in all states. To remain a technician one must take continuing education courses, learn about new seats available on the market, show that we are actively involved in training parents and have some of our car seat installations checked by an instructor every two years
