Just because I don’t think meds are “cheating” doesn’t mean i think meds are good for you.
Quick story time: I was in therapy for most of my 20s, I exercised and I ate “well”, I had ups and downs with drinking and my social health. Since practically birth, I had bout of severe insomnia. In my 20s I finally hired a coach and fully healed my insomnia! That is, for 2 years, then I relapsed HARD! I doubled down in therapy and started meds. Finally I am at a place where I can benefit from what I learned with my insomnia coach, but because my sh*t is chronic, I see myself being on [Lexapro] for life. I experience zero negative side effects, I’m on the lowest therapeutic dose, and I make sure to continue applying the lifestyle recommendations for insomnia for as long as I live 🤷🏽♀️
THIS is a sustainable and effective solution to my health problem, and the lens through which I help my clients/patients.
