Some days I catch my reflection and notice a lot more lines around my eyes than before, knees that look crepey in downward dog. Dryness everywhere. These are the things women don’t really talk about. When you’re younger, you have no idea how quickly your body changes once you move through menopause.

I’m 55 today.

But here’s the thing — life is better right now than it’s ever been. And that makes “getting older” easier to accept.

What keeps coming up for me is gratitude. Not the greeting-card kind. The real kind that sneaks up on you in quiet moments and makes you ask: how’d I get so lucky?

Lucky for the people. The friends and family who showed up in the hard chapters and the good ones. The clients who became friends, the friends who became clients, and the family who never stopped showing up. The conversations that changed how I thought about things. The laughter that still makes me feel 25.

Turning 55 is doing something to my perspective. More than anything, I want to slow down — to be more intentional, more present, more fully here for the people I love.

That’s what 55 looks like for me. And I’ll take it.

Some days I catch my reflection and notice a lot more lines around my eyes than before, knees that look crepey in downward dog. Dryness everywhere. These are the things women don’t really talk about. Lower back pain is something I hear about from nearly every guest who walks through our doors.

And honestly? It’s something I know personally too.

Between the bodywork, the long days on my feet, and life in general — my low back has had a lot to say over the years. These three stretches — low lunge, cobra, and figure four — are what I come back to again and again. For myself, and for the guests I work with every day.
