OTO Development has once again trusted the Armstrong Brain for control of the hot water temperatures in another one of their properties. This time it is the new Hyatt Place at National Harbor.

Replacing an old helical wound instantaneous heater with the Armstrong Digital-Flo steam fired instantaneous domestic water heaters in Union Station in DC. The fully redundant package insures they will always have hot water. Featuring the Brain digital recirculating valve, the entire package was factory built which made the installation a little easier, even though the mechanical room was about 110F. With the hard water, cleaning of the tube bundle is simplified with the Armstrong Clean-In-Place. No need to pull the tube bundle. The Brain ensures the precise delivery of the programmed setpoint regardless of the volume of flow in the system.

Redundancy, redundancy, redundancy
A hospital was concerned about losing their steam at times which would eliminate the possibility of having hot water for the hospital. Armstrong provided a solution and supplied and had piped in a water to water plate & frame heat exchanger to provide hot water to the Brain digital mixing valve. The two steam fired instantaneous heaters are piped for redundancy. If the steam goes down, the facility can bring on the hot water boilers for generating domestic hot water to send to the Brain. The entire installation is in the pic with the plate & frame on the left hand side and the redundant steam fired instantaneous heating package on the right. The hospital will never go without hot water.

Our customer at a wellness center had issues with a thermostatic mixing valve that wouldn't work right for 3 years. Completed another great retrofit of a Brain at the Madison Hotel in DC. Replaced decades old thermostatic mixing valves. Startup only took 2 minutes to get up to temperature with no balancing required.

Completed startups on a high rise in Baltimore that had 7 zones. High temperature water was circulated for the hot water supply and the Armstrong Brain achieved accurate temperature control in each zone. The return water was reheated and reintroduced into the hot water supply of the mixing valve. No need to send the warm water all the way back to generation.
