On Sunday, August 21, Atascadero Christian Community took action on Proclamation 5847. In 1988, Former President, Ronald Regan, proclaimed, "Throughout our history, older people
have achieved much for our families, our communities, and our country. That remains true today...For all they have achieved throughout life and for all
they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute." Atascadero Christian Community invited Local Boy Scout Troop 51 to come and spend some time with their local senior residents. The scouts will presented the colors, lead the flag salute, demonstrated some
knot tying, and serve a snack. Some of our residents were escorted across the street by these scouts to raise awareness for the elderly on National
Senior Citizens Day.
