Fr. Maurice Haefling, OSB, passed peacefully into eternal life late on Friday evening.

Vigils for the Dead and a Visitation for Fr. Maurice will take place this Wednesday, February 25th, at 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial and Interment will take place this Thursday, February 26th, beginning at 10:30 AM.

Terry Myers
1954-2026

Terry Ray Myers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on February 11, 2026.

Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Terry’s memory during a visitation with family on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and a memorial service on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10:30 AM, both to be held at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison, Kansas. He will be laid to rest at the Alderson Cemetery. Memorials may be left to St. Croix Hospice or the ALS Association.

Gloria Mae Wallingford
1936-2026

Gloria Mae (Boldridge) Wallingford, born on August 13, 1936, in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Mattie Ruth (Beadles) Boldridge, gracefully departed this world on February 4, 2026.

Services to celebrate the Life and Legacy of Gloria will be 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Atchison United Methodist Church, 501 Kansas Ave, Atchison, KS. Words of Comfort will be by Rev. Anthony Byrd of the First Baptist Church in Elwood. The family will gather with friends for a visitation before the service beginning at 12:00 noon at the church. She will be laid to rest at Pardee Cemetery.

1944-2026

The anchored soul, Pastor Otha “Dude” Kelley, the bass-line of worship, the tower of strength in ministry and might, boarded the train to glory on January 21st, 2026 at home surrounded by his beloved family.

His visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 6:00-7:30 PM at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Homegoing services will be at Shiloh Baptist Church on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The services scheduled for Saturday, January 24th in Effingham for Clark Moses have been postponed and will be rescheduled in the Spring of 2026, due to weather concerns. Information will be shared at a later date with new service information.

Patricia Betts
1952-2026

Patricia Betts, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri, on January 20, 2026, at the age of 73.

Cremation care has been provided by the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.

Rose Gerdes
1932-2026

Rose Gerdes, age 93, of Atchison, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Atchison Senior Village.

Services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at St. Benedict Church, beginning with a parish rosary at 10:00 AM, followed by visitation. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 AM with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, and a lunch will be served at St. Joseph Church lower level, 801 Spring Garden St, Atchison, KS, following the burial rites. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict’s Abbey. Cremation care entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

1957-2025

Charles Hilary Trotter, fondly known as Chuck, departed this world on January 2, 2026, after a brief illness.

A visitation with the family to share memories and celebrate Chuck’s life will be on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, Jan. 10th at 10:30 AM at St. Benedict Church in Atchison with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. Chuck will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery and as Chuck would want, a celebration will follow the services. Memorials may be left to Maur Hill-Mt. Academy or Atchison Humane Society. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with Chuck's funeral care.

1958-2025

Thomas James Bonnel, age 67, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

A visitation will take place on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Ann's Church, 301 William Street, Effingham, KS. This will be followed by a funeral mass beginning at 1:00 PM, with interment at St. Ann's Cemetery. Fr Roopesh Govindu will serve as celebrant.

Robert Edward “Bob” Bona, age 97, of Atchison, KS, passed on December 27, 2025.

The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation care for Mr. Bona. No services will be held at this time. He will be laid to rest next to his parents and siblings in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in New Brighton, MN.

John Van D**e, Jr.
1960-2025

John Malone Van D**e, Jr. died December 24, 2025, at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas following an illness. He was surrounded by his family. John was an organ donor in the hope of being a Christmas miracle for another person in need.

Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday December 27, 2025, at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1:00 PM, with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as officiant. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in John’s memory to The Guidance Center in Atchison, Kansas. Service care provided by the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
