Mark Phillip Wilson, a beloved husband, father, Papa, brother and dear friend to many, passed unexpectedly on August 15, 2025.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Nortonville, con-celebrated by Abbot James Albers, OSB and Fr. William Dun-Dery. A parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be on Wednesday, Aug. 20th at 5:30 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow from 6-7:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Nortonville. Memorials may be left to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or JCN to be designated to Special Education needs at the school, in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

The vigil service will be Friday, August 22, at 7 p.m. in the monastery chapel, and the Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated there Saturday, August 23, at 10:30 a.m.

An Elk’s Service to celebrate and honor Clay’s life will be on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Cummings Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Atchison Elks Lodge and will be designated to the Christmas Baskets, which Clay was a part of getting started. A lunch and continued celebration of his life will follow the service at the Elk’s Lodge. Cremation care entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Matthew Wood, age 10, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away on July 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born at just 29 weeks on November 25, 2014, Matthew faced life with a spirit far bigger than his tiny body. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, he spent much of his life in and out of hospitals, always bravely, and always with his mom, Caitlin Wood, by his side.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The rosary will begin at 9:30 AM followed by visitation at the church. In honor of Matthew’s memory, the family encourages donations to Make-A-Wish Foundation or Children’s Mercy Hospital in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
