Former ‘Mystic Tarot’ owner, Harold Melton, is currently accepting new students for his 6 course Tarot workshop, ‘From Within the Mystic’, which will start in April at Chaparral Salon.

With over 3000 documented tarot sessions since studying with the late Christy Gray, Harold has shared his unique insight into Tarot at several Athens area businesses, .athens , , Sisters of the Moon, , Southern Brewing Co. and , as well as many private functions and events. His personal Tarot practice, operating out of Athens, Ga. is currently booked through May.

The workshop will begin on April 20. Seating is very limited to allow plenty of one on one time. Each week Harold will focus on a different section of Tarot with The Major Arcana, suits, court cards, etc..

2026 tarot update:
I asked my wife, what picture I should use for this post? She told me to use the one from Saturday, when I was outside playing in the snow. My feeling was that it was a goofy picture, but she liked it, so here it is. It’s also the only picture taken of just myself during the last year.

I made a conscious decision to stop drinking in January 2025, and just celebrated one year sober. I have spent the last year healing, building my confidence and intuition, and learning to love myself. That goofy guy you see in the picture above was having a blast playing in the snow with his wife and pups… He is the result of a much-needed year of reflection and hard work. The time I took for myself has been received with much gratitude.

Since 2020, I have 2539 documented tarot readings under my belt, and several hundred more through various events around Athens. In 2026, I have 65 readings already, 10 of which have been full sessions. It is truly an honor for me to have the opportunity to educate people on the true nature of Tarot. The holistic properties behind this misunderstood gift can benefit anyone and everyone, including myself. I include Tarot in my own daily meditation practice.

Here is a quick Tarot recap before next week’s update…

2000- Got my first Tarot reading. That single reading inspired me years later to learn Tarot.
2014- Bought my first deck and began teaching myself with the help of many great books.
2020- Decided to level up and find a professional teacher. I met the incredible Christy Gray.
2021- Encouraged by Miss Christy, I began reading professionally.
2022- Met Dave Ranney and was invited to read Tarot monthly at Ghost Apothecary.
2023- Started offering lessons through many workshops, as well as full sessions. With much help from Dave, I opened Mystic Tarot inside Ghost.
2024- Continued at Mystic, as we built our amazing family of energy workers welcoming walk-ins and appointments, Fridays thru Sundays with over 15 different interchanging readers throughout the year.
2025- Ghost moved to Athens. Mystic Tarot closed. I stepped back for a much needed year of self care.

2026- Full update next week…

Hello beautiful Athens,

My wife and I walked into Ghost, then located in Clayton, 3 years ago. During an amazing conversation with Dave, I said, “Hey, this place needs a Tarot reader.” The rest is history. I Sat up my table the following month and had 22 readings on my 1st day.

I read at Ghost once a month for almost a year when Dave decided to make Tarot a permanent part of their wonderful shop. An amazing space was constructed ‘under the stairs’ and I became Owner/Operator of Mystic Tarot located within Ghost. We built an amazing community of mystics and offered readings with a rotation of Tarot Practitioners every Saturday and Sunday.

Now, with Ghost in Athens, my title is different, but what we are creating is very similar. We have an awesome family of Readers, several of which started with us in Clayton, to educate and share their insight and wisdom on all things ‘mystic’ with you.
Currently, we offer 15 minute readings on a walk-in basis every Saturday, and will be expanding to other days of the week in the near future. We also offer 30 minute and 1 hour readings by appointment only. DM me for any additional info and to set up a session with one of our amazing readers.

Melanie has been collecting tarot decks for over 20 years, and reading for the past 8 years professionally. She trained in Atlanta with Kelly Knight of Modern Mystic and continues her studies with Theresa Reed. She’s also a medium, having studied with Suzanne Giesemann the last two years. She speaks with the deceased, channels spirit guides, and conducts paranormal investigations.
