Here is my public service announcement:
I am sick of hearing stories of lives ruined due to dangerous and unnecessary spinal surgeries. Educate yourselves folks. Nobody has to live with your body but you.
In recent years, however, MRI often has been used solely to establish a diagnosis, in many cases before any conservative treatment has been instituted. This practice raises the following questions: Is MRI overused in patients with musculoskeletal conditions? What are the indications for MRI?
