“There are increasing numbers of crises in our communities and a lack of EMDR Early Intervention (EEI) trained clinicians ready to deploy to manage and support the fallout. Every community would benefit from a Trauma Recovery Network (TRN) with EMDR therapists ready to respond. Research clearly supports the importance of early intervention after experiencing a traumatic incident. This workshop will highlight the steps to design, activate, and maintain a TRN to respond to a variety of traumatic incidents in your community. The workshop will focus on how to create, deploy and grow TRNs using examples from the Nashville Covenant school shooting in March 2023, and the Winder, GA school shooting in September 2024. Presenters will outline and describe the EEIs used including how skilled therapists collaborated worldwide to respond to these devastating tragedies. Discussion will include strengths and challenges encountered during both interventions and ways in which both TRNs are currently working to grow communities of volunteers through networking, media outreach, and fundraising. By growing and enhancing these connections, we sustain the passion and purpose of our work.”
