Things are changing!!! Dr Hahn has retired after decades of compassionate service in our community. Dr Christopher Mullin of Life Circle in Cleveland has taken over the practice. Brittany Rountree,FNP, who worked with both Dr Hahn and Dr DeFreitas, is in the Athens office Mon-Thurs. At this time, Dr Mullin, Dr Ashcraft, Dr Buchwalter, and Destiny Smith, CNM, come to Athens one day per week. We are currently still in the same location although our name is no longer on the sign. We are accepting new patients and are happy to continue care for existing patients of Women’s Center of East TN and Life Circle.

The Womens Center will be closing on Wednesday, November 25th at noon. We will reopen on Monday, November 30th at 8:30am. Our staff would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in our area, all patients are required to wear a mask upon arrival. Also, only patients with appointments are allowed inside the building. All family members are required to wait in the car unless the patient is a minor or is physically or mentally impaired. If you feel you have been exposed to the virus or are currently experiencing symptoms, please contact our office by phone, and a staff member will assist you.

As of right now, we are still open and seeing patients who are well. If you feel sick and think you may have COVID-19 please follow CDC guidelines. Mildly ill patients should self-quarantine.

Visits with the gynecologist aren't just for women over age 21! Younger women and teens experience problems with mental health, periods, vaginal irritation, STDs, pelvic pain, birth control, etc. The CDC recommends annual STD screening for all sexually active women under age 25.

Well-woman exams cover much more than just Pap testing! Yearly visits are just as important for breast and pelvic exams, medication management, and advice on a broad range of topics. During a woman's lifespan, questions arise regarding contraception, sexuality, bladder changes, mental health, menopause, and weight. The well-woman exam is an opportunity for you to meet with a provider and discuss your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
