🔋🐾 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆! Meet 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗻, the lovable Goldendoodle who recently visited us after swallowing a battery! (He’s even eaten rocks before. We love him anyway!)

After taking X-rays, our doctors determined the battery should safely pass with careful monitoring at home but not all battery cases are this simple.

⚠️ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝘀
Batteries can leak 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀 that cause burns to the mouth, esophagus, and stomach. They can also create a blockage or cause heavy metal toxicity.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆.

🌡️ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘀 𝗣𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀?
Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs caused by infections (bacterial, viral, or fungal), aspiration of food or vomit, or underlying health conditions. It affects your dog’s ability to breathe comfortably and get enough oxygen.

🚨 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝗼𝗿:
If your dog has pneumonia, you may notice:

Severe pneumonia can quickly become life-threatening. Breathing difficulties, low oxygen levels, and dehydration are all reasons to seek ER care immediately. Early diagnosis and treatment drastically improve outcomes.

🩺 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗪𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽:

✨🎄 The holidays are filled with joy, family, food, and festive fun, but they can also bring hidden dangers for our pets. At 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆, we want to help keep your furry friends safe, happy, and OUT of the ER this holiday season! 🐾❤️

Here are some important 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 to keep in mind:
🎁 1. 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀
Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free items), grapes, raisins, fatty meats, and alcohol are all toxic to pets. Remind guests not to sneak table scraps to your pets.
🌲 2. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲
Pets may try to climb, chew, or drink from the tree, which may contain harmful fertilizers. Make sure your tree is sturdy and block access to the water.
🕯️ 3. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 & 𝗪𝗮𝘅 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵
A wagging tail or curious paw can knock over candles, causing burns or fires. Use flameless options whenever possible.
🎀 4. 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹, 𝗥𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻𝘀 & 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
Cats especially love shiny strings—but swallowing them can cause dangerous intestinal blockages.
🌿 5. 𝗕𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀
Poinsettias, mistletoe, holly, and lilies can cause vomiting, heart problems, and severe poisoning. Consider pet-safe alternatives.
🚪 6. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗘𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀
With guests coming and going, pets may slip out unnoticed. Keep them in a quiet room when hosting and make sure they have updated ID tags and a microchip.
😰 7. 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀
New people, noises, and routines can overwhelm pets. Create a calm space with their bed, toys, and water for them to relax.

Turkey bones can pose serious dangers to your furry friends. They can splinter and cause choking, blockages, or even puncture their digestive tract. 🦴💥

While we celebrate and indulge in delicious Thanksgiving feasts, ensure our pets stay safe and healthy. Instead of bones, please treat them with pet-friendly snacks or a special toy while you savor your meal. 🐶🐱
