A proud Athens native, Dr. Moyers earned her bachelor’s degree from Athens State University before pursuing her passion for veterinary medicine at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2020. With a strong interest in 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆, she brings skill, dedication, and compassion to every patient she cares for. 🩺🐶🐱

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Moyers enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan, their daughter, Rylee, and their lively furry crew including an Olde English Mastiff named Margot, pit bulls Lily and Luna, and two cats, Mayweather and Sirius. When she has free time, you’ll likely find her hiking, kayaking, or diving into a good true crime documentary or podcast. 🌲🚣‍🎧

🇺🇸🐾 Today, we recognize and honor the incredible service and sacrifice of our 𝗞𝟵 𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀, the brave military and working dogs who have served alongside our armed forces with loyalty, courage, and unwavering dedication. 💙

These highly trained dogs play vital roles in protecting and supporting our troops, including:
🐕 Detection and search operations
🛡️ Protection and patrol duties
💥 Explosive and narcotics detection
❤️ Providing companionship and morale support to service members

Just as human veterans do, many K9 heroes return home needing continued care and support after their service. Their work can be physically and emotionally demanding, making proper veterinary care, rehabilitation, and loving homes essential for their well-being.

UPDATE! WE ARE NOW OPEN! ⚠️ 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 – 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟵. Madison Veterinary Emergency is currently experiencing a power outage, and we are unable to see patients at this time.

Our team is working to address the issue and we hope to have power restored soon. We will post another update as soon as we’re able to resume seeing patients.

Spring is a beautiful time of year filled with blooming flowers, warmer weather, and more outdoor adventures, but it also brings some seasonal hazards that pet parents should be aware of. Many spring flowers, such as lilies, azaleas, and tulips, can be harmful if ingested. Keep an eye on curious pets when they're outside or when you bring new plants into your home.

🩻🐾 Recently, we treated a feline patient who came in after swallowing something very dangerous, a 𝘀𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗲! 😬 After performing X-rays, we were able to clearly see the needle inside the cat’s body and safely recover it.

We’re happy to report that this brave kitty is doing well and on the road to recovery! 💙🐱

⚠️ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀:
Needles, thread, string, and other sharp or linear objects can cause severe internal damage, including punctures, intestinal blockages, or life-threatening infections. Even small objects can quickly turn into a medical emergency.

At Madison Veterinary Emergency, accidental toxin ingestion is one of the most common emergencies we see, but many of these situations are preventable. 💙
