Had a wonderful time attending Coleman Thomson's "Mental Health Matters" talk this morning at our local library!

He spoke on depression awareness, signs and coping mechanisms, shed some light on new practices and theories in the mental health world, and was a pleasure to spend an educational hour with😊

I can't wait to follow up on some of the content, and attend his next lecture at the library!

Tim Ferris, author of "Tools of Titans", interviewed over two hundred high achievers and found that over 80% of them practice some form of mindfulness and or meditation. Those he interviewed include billionaires, icons and world class performers.

Many think that meditation is something you sit down and do once, correctly, and something magical happens. I've heard so many say "I'm not good at meditation".

In reality, meditation is a practice, not a skill most people have without intention and dedication. And it's not something you "do once". Although results and intentions vary, in its' simplest form meditation is just concentration training.

Meditation helps you learn to relax and focus. It's a practice and a process to help clear your mind of the unnecessary, distracting chatter we all experience.

Set your alarm early starting August 10, the morning sky is putting on a rare and dazzling performance! Six planets Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will align in a graceful arc just before sunrise, a “planet parade” that won’t return until February 2026.

Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn will shine bright to the naked eye, while Uranus and Neptune lurk quietly at the edges, visible through binoculars or a telescope.

And as if that weren’t enough, the Perseid meteor shower the year’s most spectacular—will be reaching its peak at the same time. On the nights of August 12–13, you could catch up to 100 meteors per hour, streaking through a planet-filled sky for an unforgettable cosmic show.

For the best view, find a dark spot with a clear eastern horizon about an hour before sunrise. The parade of planets will stretch above, with shooting stars slicing through the dawn. Whether you’re an avid astronomer or just love skywatching, this is a once-in-a-lifetime morning not to be missed.

Studying the world's various ancient customs and cultures is my favorite- it's how HYEfit came into existence!

I just finished reading this book, and can't recommend it enough. It focuses on the Japanese philosophy of Ikigai, meaning to find your passion: whatever sparks joy and motivation to continue learning and moving and creating.

Japanese culture is full of ancient knowledge and practices that foster good health and longevity. In fact, Okinawa is one of the five "Blue Zones" across the globe where people live exceptionally long and healthy lives, many over 100 years of age. Finding purpose is part of what keeps them thriving.

I'm so grateful to have found my purpose, and the ability to bring it to fruition🙌🏼

Correct posture helps keep your bones and muscles in alignment, and helps keeps pathways in your body open and unobstructed.

Complete breathing, especially with correct posture, invigorates every cell in the body and helps regulate the nervous system.

And yet, most people don't exactly know how to do either of those things well🙃
