Massey Chiropractic

Massey Chiropractic Serving the McMinn County area for over 25 years. Utilizing hands-on conservative methods to treat spine, joint, and muscle pain and functional problems.

Since 1991, Massey Chiropractic has become the "go-to" chiropractic office in Athens, McMinn County, and the surrounding area. Trusted by patients, we now enjoy seeing third generations of the same families. We are frequently engaged by local businesses and industries for both treatment of their injured employees and to consult them on safety and prevention measures. Our office is proud of the rel

ationships we've forged with local healthcare practices and facilities, seeing patients upon referral from other medical doctors, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, surgeons, dentists, and other specialists. We treat families and staff members from numerous health facilities and offices due to the nature of our open communications and collaborative case management practices. While most chiropractic offices are traditionally known for commonly managing low back pain, neck pain, and headaches...we want the community to realize that chiropractic care is not just about the spine. Our office not only excels at spine-related problems (pain, stiffness, weakness, etc.) but also in conservatively but aggressively managing joint problems in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles/feet. Conditions such as bursitis, tendonitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, TMJ dysfunction, and plantar fasciitis often respond well to a variety of non-drug/non-surgical treatment methods we offer. Beyond spinal manipulation, we also offer manipulation of the joints where indicated. We offer a variety of supportive therapies, such as electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound therapy, hot/cold therapy, mechanical and intersegmental traction, manual muscular therapies, dry needling, and low level laser ("cold laser") treatments. Beyond managing the pain, we also offer comprehensive home rehabilitation programs utilizing simple exercise devices such as the Swiss gym ball, elastic bands/tubes, light free weights, and even exercises that require no equipment at all. We feel that the simpler and more varied exercise programs are easier to stick to at home and give patients better results long-term. Dr. Massey, holding post-doctoral certification as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, treats a variety of sports-related injuries and athletes. He also offers specific conditioning and performance programs, as well as balance/agility/coordination training. Many collegiate, professional, and Olympic athletes utilize chiropractic care not as a treatment but as a "maintenance" service, helping to keep joints moving and the body in balance for maximum performance. With regard to lifestyle and wellness, we offer a wide range of programs for special needs, such as: weight loss, muscle gain, cardiac health, anti-inflammation, neutralizing pH, and general lifestyle improvement counseling. We work directly with local and regional diagnostic imaging centers and laboratories, ordering any study or lab work that would help us to diagnose or better treat your condition or concern. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday all day, and are conveniently located just across the street from the Emergency department at Starr Regional Medical Center

We are sad to announce that Kalayena has just completed her last week working with our office. We are happy, though, to share that she's returning to school full-time! She has been an asset to our practice, and we have all enjoyed working with her. We wish her the best of luck in her next chapter and great success in the future. Kalayena's departure also signals Kelley's return to the front office!

A large percentage of American adults own cell phones, and send and receive text messages. As technology advances, allowing us to do more tasks on smaller equipment, our bodies often pay the price. With a growing potential for injuries from the tools we rely on, it's a good time to learn how to minimize those risks. One problem that is becoming more prevalent is neck strain from the overuse of these mobile devices, or "text neck".

We all spent this past Tuesday in Nashville attending the Tennessee Chiropractic Association’s “chiropractic day on the hill” where we visited with our state legislators (Rep Mark Cochran and Sen Adam Lowe pictured) to discuss legislative matters pertinent to chiropractors and their patients. Shout out to Kelley, Jessica, and Kalayena for their first-time participation!.

Our Story

Massey Chiropractic began in 1991 upon Dr. Massey’s move from a short-term practice position in Crossville, TN.
