My Story

A Sherpa is a guide. I see myself as a guide to new families. I have been a lactation supporter- previous La Leche League leader for over 40 years, a labor doula for over 25 years at over 700 births, an educator for over 20 years and been taking care of babies during that whole time!

I offer childbirth education so you can make good informed decisions that are right for you. I offer prenatal consults to help you prepare your home and family members for the new baby.I offer labor doula services to be extra support to help you during the journey of labor, providing guidance for you and your partner. I provide that mothering you need after the birth as a postpartum doula and can assist with some concerns and needs with breastfeeding. Or if you only need a little guidance, a family soothing session may be just what is desired. I can teach you techniques learned in my Happiest Baby training.

You find out you are having a baby and it can be overwhelming figuring out your options or even what options you have to choose from. Classes and consults can help you find your center point. Or you come home with a new baby and think, "What do we do now?" I am there to help instruct you, support you, encourage you and guide you on this new path. I will help you get rest, a warm meal and have a tidy home but most of all, a happy baby and mom!

I only take a few labor doula clients now. I always welcome repeat families, but I prefer moms looking for a less intervention birth- so the midwifery model resonates with me. I discount my rate for folks who hire me for both labor and postpartum, for Athens moms who live close and for those couples who take their childbirth classes with me.
