With schools and businesses closing, travel restrictions being enforced, and social events being canceled due to COVID-19, you may be wondering my clinic is doing. As of right now, I will continue to see clients/take appointments.
Hygiene and sanitation are of huge importance to a massage therapist regardless of what illnesses are going around. Here are some of the preventive measures I take in my office at all times, even when there isn’t a pandemic concern:
• All linens are laundered using hot water and a commercial grade detergent.
• Linens are removed and replaced with clean, fresh linens between sessions.
• I wash my hands before and after every massage, with hot water & soap.
• I avoid touching my face with my bare hands during your massage.
• If I am not feeling well, I will ALWAYS contact you to let you know.
Given the concerns about COVID-19, I have begun instituting a few upgrades to prevention here in my office which include:
• Wiping down the face cradle, and other surfaces within the treatment room with a disinfecting spray/wipes between each session.
• Avoiding facial massage unless you have a specific concern that needs to be addressed such as TMJD.
• Disinfecting door k***s and other communal surfaces in the office with disinfecting spray/wipes.
• Providing hand sanitizer for clients.
While I am not overly concerned for my personal health and well being, I am the parent of two young children — one of which has reactive airways/asthma and a history of hospitalizations due to respiratory distress — and it is my duty and responsibility to protect them from potential harm, including the introduction of harmful pathogens. Because of this, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of my policies regarding illness and cancellations/no shows...
Illness Policy:
Please cancel your massage appointment if any of the following applies:
• Fever - < 99.5° (fever must be absent for a minimum of 24 hours *without medication*)
• Cough
• Shortness of breath
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
*** You should also cancel your massage appointment if someone you live with or have close contact with is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above. This may seem like an unnecessary precaution, but we must take into account the incubation period of some illnesses such as COVID-19; although you may not be experiencing symptoms, you can still infect others. ***
Cancellation & No Show Policy:
Please provide at least 24 hours notice should you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment. Should you fail to give a 24 hour cancellation notice on more than two occasions, you will be asked to pre-pay for all future services. We reserve the right to charge you the cost of the missed session on all forms of payment including gift certificates and massage packages.
*** Due to current health concerns, fees will be waived for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice ***
Clients who fail to show for their scheduled massage session may be asked to pre-pay for future services. We reserve the right to charge the cost of the missed session on all forms of payment including gift certificates and massage series.
Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me! I will provide my contact information below.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. I greatly appreciate your continued business!!!
