Patients ask this everyday. If you are ever unsure always use ice. Most people use heat at home because it feels nice and relaxing, and ice can feel uncomfortable, but it is underrated for pain relief. Most neck and low back pain complaints I see gain a lot of relief from ice. Time/frequency: 15 minutes every 2 hours.

A common problem I see is patients complaining of pain traveling into the glute and the back of the thigh. Sitting for extended periods of time seems to have increased with the pandemic due to many working remotely. Sitting for more than one hour without standing to take a break and move may contribute to the onset of these symptoms. It is important to rule out with an exam whether the source of the pain is degenerative disc/joint, muscular, or both. Chiropractic treatment is a great place to start.. Our goal is to create movement in the joint to reduce nerve irritation and educate on stretching techniques to perform at home to prevent the onset. 1/3 of adults, and almost all teenagers are not getting enough sleep. Set a goal bed time based on when you have to wake up to get 7+ hours. Make a point to put aside distractions, especially electronics in bed. Avoid sleeping meds if possible and seek natural alternatives. I have been working on this myself…Staying off the phone in bed, and listening to something instead of watching. Slow release high dose magnesium, melatonin, and GABA work well together. Tension headache 🤯 cases are on the rise with more people on the computers going virtual/remote more often. Some things you can do to help:

- #1 See your chiropractor to get adjusted/stretched
-Invest in a pillow that has a contour to cradle your head and support your neck... They’re not expensive (ask for recommendation).
- Lay on your back with a gel ice pack under your neck and a rolled up hand towel for 15 minutes.
-Take a break from your computer every hour and do 3 sets of chin tuck exercises (I have a demo video I can send).
-Supplement with magnesium. I have been enjoying a sustained release magnesium daily.
-Watch your caffeine and increase water intake. Flavored electrolyte powders are the 💣 because it makes drinking water easier and more enjoyable.
