Today we remember Hope Elizabeth Gardner.

Hope was born to Kevin and Judy Gardner on October 23, 2015, the fifth daughter in a family already full of love. She came into the world with Trisomy 18, a diagnosis the doctors said was "incompatible with life." But Hope had other plans. She lived six beautiful months, and in that time she touched hundreds of hearts before going home to be with Jesus on April 20, 2016.

Her short life was packed full of purpose. Hope's story still points people to the love and hope we have through Jesus, and her family has carried that message forward in everything they do.

We also hold close the memory of her mama, Judy, who joined Hope in heaven in the fall of 2024. Judy lived out her faith in a way that drew people to Christ. She used every gift she had to serve others, and the Kingdom impact of her life is still being felt.

The "Having Hope" ministry honors Hope's homegoing each year by recognizing a WRC volunteer whose faithful service makes a difference for the mamas and daddies we walk alongside. The honoree receives a small gift and a personal note from the Gardner family.

This year, the Gardner family has chosen to honor Shannon McCaig.

Shannon, thank you for the way you love our families. You are a gift to this ministry, and we're so thankful for you.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude from this past Saturday, and boy do we have a lot of people to thank! 💗

We were so blessed to celebrate moms from across Athens and Limestone County at our Community Baby Shower. Each mom, and those who came alongside her, felt deeply loved and supported by this incredible community.

A very special thank you to Market & Monroe for so generously opening their beautiful venue. Having such a welcoming and elegant space made the day even more meaningful for these moms.
We’re also so thankful for the special touches that made the day unforgettable,
Fly Leaf Photography for capturing such sweet moments and providing each mom with professional photos to take home as a lasting memory
Pop & Purpose Balloon Co. for creating a beautiful photo backdrop and entry that made everything feel extra special.

This event would not have been possible with the outpouring of generosity from our community. Churches, businesses, and community groups who provided baskets, large gifts, and support: FBC Athens, Al, Lindsay Lane Baptist Church, Journey Church- Athens, Al, Athens First Methodist Church, Discovery Church, St Paul Catholic Church, JBM: Just Breathe Ministries, Family Security Credit Union of Athens, Dottie Jewel Clothing, and Laura Funk Photography.

There were also countless Sunday School groups and individuals who stepped in to go above and beyond. Several also joined us on Saturday, creating beautiful tables that made the day feel extra special for our guests.

Hugs and thanks to all the girls in Girl Scout Troop 11922 with Kiki for the very thoughtful “Mom Survival Kits”.

We also want to give a special shoutout to the Girls in Action at FBC Athens, Al for hosting a beautiful GA Tea in honor of the WRC shower; it was such a joy to witness young hearts serving their community so intentionally. Way to go girls! Keep living that missions lifestyle!

Because of each of you, these moms left not only with needed items, but with encouragement, dignity, and the reminder that they are not alone.
Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. 💗

A huge thank you to the Forever Faithful Sunday School group at FBC Athens, Al for your incredibly thoughtful donation! From the quilts and blankets to the softest stuffies, sweet layette items, and all the essentials like diapers, wipes, and baby care items, every piece was chosen with such care. We can truly feel the love behind each item, and we know the families we serve will feel it too. 💗
