Divorce is one of life’s biggest transitions, and rebuilding after it can feel overwhelming. 💔➡️🌱

If you’re wondering where to start, here are 5 tips to help you begin healing and moving forward:

✨ Allow yourself to grieve
✨ Redefine who you are
✨ Lean on your support system
✨ Set small, manageable goals
✨ Consider professional support

You don’t have to do this alone.

Therapy can help you process what you’ve been through and start creating a new chapter that feels right for you.

We are happy to partner with our friends and colleagues at UGA's Counseling and Psychiatric Services. On Friday we attended their fabulous Open House event in the UGA Health Center. It was great to see so many great people from the Athens, Georgia and surrounding communities who work hard to serve the needs of people in our area. Such a great group of people. Oh and we got to hang with Harry Dawg himself!! Here are Lindsey York, LCSW, myself (Claire Zimmerman), Harry, Suzanne Morgan, LCSW and Elizabeth Thacker, LPC.

For college student-athletes, the pressure to perform can take a toll on mental health. Balancing academics, athletics, and personal well-being often means pushing through stress, anxiety, and exhaustion - sometimes at the cost of peace of mind.
It’s crucial that we talk about what mental performance really means and how rest, emotional support, and identity beyond sport play a role.

Lily Kerr, MSW, knows this firsthand. As a former collegiate swimmer, she understands the intense demands, the drive for perfection, and the silent weight many student-athletes carry.

Now, as a social worker, she specializes in supporting college athletes and high-achieving students. She helps them manage stress, anxiety, identity struggles, and performance pressure - so they can succeed and feel grounded.

💬 Whether you're a student-athlete or someone who cares about one, this is a conversation that matters.

📍Currently serving clients via telehealth throughout Arkansas, Florida, and South Carolina.

In this blog, Lily explains how to support mental health and balance for student-athletes:

In many cultures, men are taught to be stoic, to keep their emotions in check, and to handle challenges on their own.
But true strength lies in connection - being open, vulnerable, and empathetic with those who matter most.

At Counseling Associates for Well-Being, we believe that embracing vulnerability is a courageous act that fosters deeper emotional bonds and healthier relationships.

There are many ways to help men build stronger emotional connections, such as:
- Acknowledge and accept your emotions
- Communicate openly and honestly
- Practice active listening
- Cultivate emotional awareness

Ready to explore these tools and deepen your relationships?
Read the full guide from Sam Jones, LCSW: https://ca4wellbeing.com/vulnerability-and-empathy-a-guide-for-men-in-relationships/

Vulnerability isn’t a weakness, it’s a powerful path to connection and growth.
We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Imagine starting your day with a limited number of spoons. Each task - getting out of bed, making breakfast, responding to emails - costs a spoon. When the spoons run out, there is nothing left to give.

For someone with a chronic illness, this is their daily reality.

Many people live with chronic pain or invisible illnesses and are taught to “push through.” But the toll is real - on your body, your mind, and your relationships.

Sam Jones, LCSW, has spent years working in medical and social care settings, supporting individuals facing chronic health challenges, disability, and emotional fatigue. His experience as a respiratory therapist and medical social worker gives him unique insight into what it's like to live with limited energy and constant pressure.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Therapy can help you learn to manage your spoons and improve how you communicate with those around you.

Let’s talk about what it’s like when the world expects you to give more than you’ve got.
