Untreated hearing loss has been linked to an increased risk of dementia. When hearing loss goes unaddressed, it can lead to social isolation and reduced cognitive stimulation, both of which are risk factors for dementia. The brain has to work harder to process sounds, which can take away resources from other cognitive functions. Over time, this additional strain can contribute to cognitive decline and increase the likelihood of developing dementia. Therefore, treating hearing loss early on is crucial for maintaining cognitive health. Read more about it here!

Cochlear Center director Frank R. Lin explains why hearing loss has been linked to cognitive issues like dementia.
