Did you know? One of the simplest ways to prevent winter falls is knowing when not to go out — and what you wear when you do matters more than comfort.

“If it is wet or slick, put away the Crocs — even in sport mode.”

In this Healthy Conversations clip, Dr. Phillip Ingram shares practical, real-life advice for helping older adults stay safe during winter weather, from watching the forecast to choosing footwear with proper grip.

Small choices can make a big difference in preventing falls.

Congratulations to Dr. Benjamin Ladner!

Athens-Limestone Hospital is proud to recognize Dr. Benjamin Ladner, Anesthesiologist, as our Physician of the Year. This award is especially meaningful because it is nominated and voted on by our ALH staff—a true reflection of the respect and appreciation he has earned from those who work alongside him every day.

Dr. Ladner was honored during our recent Physicians’ Christmas Social, a special time to celebrate with our physicians, thank them for a wonderful year, and extend our warm wishes for a healthy new year ahead. The evening highlighted not only this well-deserved recognition, but also the dedication, compassion, and excellence our medical staff brings to our community every day.

Thank you, Dr. Ladner, for the difference you make at ALH and for setting the standard for exceptional care.

We recently jingled and mingled with the Athens-Limestone County Chamber and the Limestone County Economic Development Association at their Annual Christmas Party — and what a great way to celebrate the season.

’Tis the season for good conversations, festive fun, and spending time with the people who help make our community such a special place. We love celebrating the holidays alongside our community partners and friends.

Christmas cheer has officially left the building — and headed to our Partners In Education classrooms at Julian Newman Elementary.

Our departments and clinics have been busy spreading holiday joy with gifts, goodies, crafts, story time, smiles, and plenty of festive fun. From crafts and cookies to books and big hugs, these visits are all about making memories and sharing a little extra magic this season.

We love seeing our teams bring the holiday spirit to life and brighten the days of our students. This is what happens when caring people show up with open hearts — and maybe a few Christmas treats.

💚♻️ Supporting Our Students, One Bottle Cap at a Time! ♻️💚

Athens-Limestone Hospital is excited to partner with Julian Newman Elementary School as they collect plastic bottle caps to be recycled into benches for their playground!

It’s a simple way to make a meaningful impact—and we’re proud to rally behind our community’s kids. Employees and visitors can drop clean plastic caps in our collection buckets located throughout the hospital - Sanders Street Lobby, Cafeteria and Medical Village Tower.

Every cap helps build a more sustainable, comfortable space for JNES students to learn and play. Let’s show them what community support looks like!

As the days get shorter, many people feel a little “winter slump.” But seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is more than that — it’s a form of major depression that appears only in the fall and winter and brings a persistent sadness that doesn’t simply come and go.
In our newest Healthy Conversations episode, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Morgan Dean with Limestone Medical Associates helps us understand the difference between winter blues and SAD, what signs to look for, and why reaching out for help can truly brighten someone’s season 💚
