How long have you been a CNA? 22 years

A little about you. " I am a single mom with one son who is my world. I love to camp, crochet, read, and spend time with my family. I am a Christian and enjoy being active at my church."

What brought you to hospice? " I was searching for more meaning in my life. I knew that I wanted to find a profession that would enrich my life. I wanted a career that would provide the opportunity to be an instrument of comfort. During my 15 years with the company, I have been rewarded in so many ways. To work in hospice is a calling. I am so blessed to have witnessed the positive effect of compassionate care and being a support system for my patients and their families. The memories of these moments carry me forward and keep my heart full of love. "

A little bit about you. "I am the wife of Brandon and the momma to Paislee, Carlee, and Roslyn. I am a photographer and me and my husband own a reptile business. I am a child of God. I am also a huge Tennessee Vols fan and love reading books.

What brought you to hospice? "I came to hospice because I witnessed my memaw going through hospice and saw the love that the hospice company showed my family and I wanted to do that for other people. I want to be a shining light for others in their darkest moments in life.

How long have you been a CNA? 12 and 1/2 years

A little about you. " I am a mom to two girls. Gabbi who just graduated high school and Brinleigh who is officially a teenage. I enjoy trips to the beach and the mountains. I love reading.

What brought you to hospice? " I was approached with a job opportunity while at my daughter's field day. Once I started seeing patients it was a totally different feeling. I was nervous of working with end of life care but immediately felt a sense of peace. i had only experienced hospice with my grandfather for a brief time. Since working with hospice I have had both my grandmother and father on hospice care both which have passed so I can relate to my patients and their families.

Tell us a little about you. " My name is Misty Giles, I moved to Tennessee 6 years ago. I have two daughters, Breanna (21 years old) and Lauren (19 years old). In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, swimming, spending time with family, going to the mountains and enjoy my animals.

What brought you to hospice? " When my mom passed away 20 years ago, I embraced the end of life. I knew families need love and compassion and i knew that it was a place for me."

Nurses Week Spotlight Shoutout

Let's shine a light on our wonderfully wild, hyper-hearted nurse, Dawn Pickel. You bring a burst of energy to every room and a spark of chaos to every challenge (in the best possible way). You always have a smile on your face and our patients love to see you!

How long have you been a nurse? 10 years
A little bit about you:
" I am an RN, I was a LPN for 10 years before. Married to Harvey for 28+ years, mom of 3 sons and a Mimi of my heart Clementine Rose who is 5 months old. "
What brought you to hospice?
" My husband was called to Tennessee to share his testimony of how God healed him and as an obedience to God, followed him here. Confirmation for transition was accepting the job as a hospice nurse. As my husband shares the healing power, God has humbled myself as a reminder, we all have a date of birth and a time of death. It's the dash mark between those dates that is the most important. It's the in between the DOB and DOD that makes a difference. It's not what you done, and it's not what you did, It's how you lived!"

Thank you, Dawn for being the heartbeat behind the scenes, keeping us all on our toes and our patients in the best hands. Keep that crazy energy flowing!
